Hello, our regular readers and those who were interested in the title of the article and looked into our blog out of curiosity. Hydrogen peroxide treatment does exist, and this method has been popular since 1968, but it appeared much earlier.
The author of this progressive technique is Professor Ivan Pavlovich Neumyvakin, one of the founders of Russian medicine. He is not alone in this world, and ardent promoters of peroxide treatment in the USA are W. Douglas and C. Farr.
They are also deeply convinced of the ability of a solution of water and a substance with 2 oxygen atoms and 2 hydrogen atoms to treat not only simple diseases, but also oncological processes, lupus erythematosus and almost all other diseases of mankind.
Hydrogen peroxide
Are there any health benefits to drinking hydrogen peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide can typically be found in four concentrations, each used for specific purposes ():
- 3% hydrogen peroxide . This type, also called household hydrogen peroxide, is typically used to clean or disinfect minor wounds. This is the one you are most likely to find at your local pharmacy.
- 6–10% hydrogen peroxide . This concentration is most often used for hair bleaching.
- 35% hydrogen peroxide . This type, commonly called food grade hydrogen peroxide, can be found in health food stores and is common as a cure for various ailments.
- 90% hydrogen peroxide . Also known as industrial hydrogen peroxide, it is commonly used to bleach paper and textiles, make foam or rocket fuel, or as a chlorine substitute in water and wastewater treatment.
Some people believe that ingesting a few drops of hydrogen peroxide dissolved in water can improve health by adding extra oxygen to your body.
They believe this extra oxygen can help treat a variety of conditions, such as sore throats, arthritis, diabetes, AIDS, lupus, and even some forms of cancer.
However, there is little evidence to support these claims. In fact, it is known that the production of hydrogen peroxide by cancer cells in the body increases inflammation, and accelerates the progression of the disease ().
In addition, doctors warn that drinking hydrogen peroxide can cause a number of unpleasant side effects, some of which can be deadly in some cases (, ,).
Summary:
Hydrogen peroxide is sold in various concentrations, from 3 to 90%. Despite claims that drinking 35% hydrogen peroxide diluted in water can help treat various diseases, scientific evidence is insufficient.
Hydrogen peroxide and weight loss: is there a connection?
Traditional healers claim that oral intake of hydrogen peroxide helps rejuvenate the body, accelerate metabolic processes, and normalize the functioning of the digestive tract. Thanks to this, the antiseptic can be safely used for weight loss.
To reduce body weight, you should take 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide diluted in ¼ glass of filtered water. Be sure to drink this remedy half an hour before meals or a couple of hours after meals.
Important! If you have diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, this method cannot be used to reduce body weight.
Risks and side effects of drinking hydrogen peroxide
Despite the supposed benefits of taking hydrogen peroxide, scientific and medical experts agree that its use can have serious side effects and consequences.
When taken orally, hydrogen peroxide reacts with a natural enzyme in your body, producing very large amounts of oxygen.
When the amount of oxygen released is too high, it can move from the intestines into the blood vessels, leading to potential complications such as a heart attack or stroke ().
The severity of complications depends on the volume and concentration of hydrogen peroxide that enters the body.
For example, accidental ingestion of small amounts of household 3% hydrogen peroxide usually causes minor symptoms such as bloating, mild abdominal pain, and in some cases, vomiting.
However, ingesting large amounts or higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide can cause ulcers, intestinal perforations, and burns in the mouth, throat, and stomach. In severe cases, it can lead to breathing problems, fainting, and even death (,).
Food grade hydrogen peroxide is more than 10 times more concentrated than household hydrogen peroxide. Moreover, instructions for diluting it with water may vary, and its safety has not been assessed.
Therefore, using food grade hydrogen peroxide by mouth increases the risk that you will take it in higher concentrations and experience more severe side effects as a result.
Summary:
Drinking hydrogen peroxide can cause many side effects, including intestinal irritation or perforation, breathing problems, and even death. The severity of these side effects depends on the amount and concentration of hydrogen peroxide consumed.
Aspects of using the product for medicinal purposes
The main effect of H2O2 when applied externally is considered to be disinfecting (antiseptic). This effect is obtained from the decomposition of the product into its components under the influence of air.
The process of apoptosis (elimination of damaged or non-viable cells), which occurs during external use, eliminates most of the microbes located on the wound or inflamed surface.
The antiseptic effect of peroxide in the treatment of skin lesions has not been questioned for a long time. Its effectiveness led to widespread dissemination and recognition of official medicine.
You, too, have probably happened to pour hydrogen peroxide on an abrasion or wound and watch how it hisses and foams?
External use of hydrogen peroxide
Recipes for external use are not limited to the treatment of small wound surfaces. Traditional medicine recommends an aqueous solution of perhydrol in the form of compresses on the affected joints, applying tampons to treat hemorrhoids or persistent inflammation of the gums due to periodontal disease or periodontitis.
With the help of ordinary hydrogen peroxide, a bottle of which is certainly present in the home medicine cabinet, you can achieve multiple therapeutic effects due to the ability of the medicine to eliminate dead or damaged cells, destroy pathogenic microorganisms and accelerate the regeneration process due to atomic oxygen, which is vital for the human body.
Using a low concentration aqueous solution of perhydrol, you can:
- clear the nasal passages during a runny nose, using rinsing and instillation;
- remove cracks in the feet by removing the keratinized layer of dead epithelium on the heels;
- get rid of fungal colonies, including mycotic damage to the nails;
- eliminate papillomas by applying a solution to them for several days (warts are a manifestation of a viral infection, the skin manifestations of which are quickly treated with an antiseptic);
- reduce painful manifestations of ear diseases by instilling a few drops of a weak solution inside (this works great for children);
- cope with the external symptoms of psoriasis with the help of compresses and lotions.
If you have a severe cold or sore throat, you probably had to gargle with a medicinal solution of water and peroxide, or water, perhydrol and soda. This method has been used for decades and always works. In Germany, they discovered that a couple of drops of peroxide, dripped into each ear at the first symptoms of a cold, can significantly reduce both the duration of the disease and its negative symptoms.
Gargling
You can wash your eyes with a weak solution for conjunctivitis, and this invariably gives excellent results. Although, you probably know this very well yourself.
There are practically no contraindications to the external method, except if you use perhydrol in a strong concentration, then you can get burns. But not a single person who is familiar with the basics of school chemistry, or who has observed the bubbles and hissing when a disinfectant solution is poured onto a bleeding abrasion, will do this. It remains a mystery why traditional medicine resists taking the medicine orally with such zeal.
Hydrogen peroxide
What to do if you swallow hydrogen peroxide
According to the National Capital Poison Center, adults and children who accidentally ingest small amounts of household 3% hydrogen peroxide should seek medical help ().
On the other hand, children and adults who have ingested large amounts of hydrogen peroxide, or any amount with a higher concentration than household hydrogen peroxide, should call emergency services immediately.
Summary:
If you swallow a small amount of 3% hydrogen peroxide, seek medical attention. If you swallow large quantities or higher concentrations, go to the emergency room immediately.
Using hydrogen peroxide at home
Hydrogen peroxide in the kitchen
1. Peroxide perfectly helps to disinfect cutting boards and other surfaces, kills germs that are dangerous to health - salmonella and coca bacteria.
2. For disinfection, when cleaning the kitchen, remember a simple rule - spray the kitchen boards first with a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, and then with table vinegar. After this, wash the boards thoroughly with tap water and dry.
3. Wipe the work surface in the kitchen with a rag, after moistening it with peroxide.
4. If you use a dishwasher, then when washing dishes, add 50 ml of peroxide in addition to the main product. It will greatly improve the quality of washing, and the dishes will shine like new.
In the bathroom and toilet
1. In the bathroom, peroxide will help get rid of mold and prevent its reoccurrence. To do this, you need to take a 33-35% solution, mix it with water in equal proportions, and then spray the moldy surfaces with a spray bottle.
2. A solution of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia will also help get rid of rust stains and stains in the bathroom and on other surfaces. Take 2 of these components in equal parts and moisten a rag with the resulting solution and wipe the areas where there are stains and rust.
3. In order to disinfect and thoroughly wash the toilet, you need to take 2 liters of water, 1 glass of hydrogen peroxide, 1 tbsp. ammonia. Pour the resulting solution inside, lower the lid, let it sit for 10 minutes, then clean it with a brush.
4. If the walls of the bathroom are covered with water-based paint or tiled, it is necessary to periodically spray them with a 3% peroxide solution heated to 40-50°C.
5. Use hydrogen peroxide to bleach clothes: add peroxide to hot water with powder and put the clothes in and let them sit. It’s better, of course, to boil it, but nowadays we often don’t have time for that, but it’s not scary, and without boiling it whitens and disinfects well.
Summarize
- Hydrogen peroxide is touted as an alternative treatment for a range of ailments.
- However, there is no scientific evidence that its use provides any benefit. In addition, its ingestion is associated with dangerous side effects, including breathing problems, serious intestinal damage and, in some cases, death.
- For these reasons, drinking hydrogen peroxide for medicinal purposes in any concentration and quantity is not recommended.

Oral use: pros and cons
There is currently ongoing debate about whether hydrogen peroxide can be drunk. Adherents of the technique believe that the antiseptic, once it enters the gastrointestinal tract, is able to have a restorative healing effect on the entire body, supplying oxygen to the cells. This allows you to nourish the tissues, improving the functioning of the digestive and other systems.
Neumyvakin and his supporters are confident that with the correct dosage, oral hydrogen peroxide is safe and has a completely positive effect. The danger comes from exceeding doses and violating dosage regimens.
It is prohibited to take peroxide internally in its pure, undiluted form . Violation of the rules for taking peroxide orally according to Neumyvakin can lead to unpleasant consequences with clear manifestations of side effects with burns, pain, intoxication, etc.
The official instructions for the drug do not support such use. Traditional medicine is categorical on this issue - treatment with hydrogen peroxide can only be external, you cannot drink it.
Treatment according to Neumyvakin: instructions for oral administration
The developed method is based on the enrichment of cells and tissues of the body with oxygen, which is part of hydrogen peroxide. According to the presented theory, such a property of an easily accessible substance as hydrogen peroxide can overcome even intractable diseases.
Indications for oral use of hydrogen peroxide include:
- varicose veins;
- cardiovascular disorders;
- diabetes;
- malignant tumors;
- presence of helminths;
- impaired metabolism;
- problems with the respiratory and digestive system;
- dermatological and infectious diseases;
- hypertension, etc.
In accordance with the method, it is optimal to use hydrogen peroxide internally at a concentration of 3%. It is this that is dissolved in the required dosage of 1/4 cup per 1 dose. There should be 3 such receptions per day.
Therapy begins with a minimum volume of hydrogen peroxide - just one drop per quarter glass of water orally. Thus, on the first day the patient receives only 3 drops, divided into 3 doses. In the following days, there is a gradual increase in the amount of hydrogen peroxide in each dose by 1 drop.
On the second day of treatment it will be 3 times 2 drops each, on the third day 3 times 3 drops each, etc. The number of drops is brought to the required maximum - 10 at a time, and 30 per day.
At the end of a 10-day course, you need to take a break for 4-5 days. After this, they move on to the second stage - taking 10 drops orally at a time for another week and a half.
For your information! The number of required courses is determined individually.
How to use?
According to what Professor Neumyvakin himself writes, the dosage of peroxide is individual; a person, listening to his condition, is quite capable of independently determining a comfortable number of drops. However, this number should not exceed 10 at a time.
Based on what people who are supporters of taking hydrogen peroxide orally write, the optimal dosage for many is from 3 to 8 drops.
In addition, the professor recommends taking peroxide in courses, the essence of the course is as follows:
- Start drinking with 1 drop, dissolved in 30-50 ml of water, three times a day, half an hour before meals or a couple of hours after it.
- Every day add one drop to the daily dose, bringing it to ten.
- Take a break for 2-3 days.
- Repeat everything, or start immediately with the maximum amount, and so on constantly.
This prescription may vary, the maximum number of drops may be individual. That is, if a person feels anxious while taking 10 drops, then his maximum threshold is lower, so his course is brought to 8-9 or another amount, and a break is taken.
In addition to drinking, according to Neumyvakin’s book, peroxide can be taken by injection, intravenously, which is extremely inconvenient for everyday use, and by instillation into the nose.
Nasal drops are recommended if a person has:
- Parkinson's disease.
- Multiple sclerosis.
- Inflammation in the frontal sinuses.
- Sinusitis.
- Migraines of unknown origin.
- Flu.
- Meningitis.
- Colds.
- Diseases of the nasopharynx.
- Noises in the head.
For instillation, the proportions should be from 10 to 15 drops per tablespoon of water. It should be instilled into the nostrils one at a time, one whole pipette at a time. If desired, after three days the dosage can be increased to 2 pipettes in each nostril during the day.
After administering peroxide, mucus will begin to come out of your nose within the next minute - this is normal, as it should be. This mucus is dead microbes. You just need to bend over and “blow” everything out of your nose, alternately pinching your nostrils.
This is especially true for sinusitis - on the second or third day of use, whole dense pieces of “rot” with a specific smell begin to come off. Such points need to be taken into account, and peroxide should only be instilled in comfortable conditions, with close proximity to a sink or bathtub.
You can also gargle by adding a few drops to the herbal decoction, but this method is exclusively the work of supporters of the use of peroxide, which has nothing to do with the authors of the methods for its use.
As for intravenous injections, you need to have medical skills, otherwise you can cause serious harm to your health, even death.
Contraindications
Like all methods and medications, treatment with soda and peroxide according to Neumyvakin has certain contraindications. First of all, it should be noted that it is prohibited to abuse any method of treatment. Mild forms of poisoning can also occur in case of drug overdose. It is prohibited to use the drug for people who have transplanted organs. If you overuse soda, you may experience heartburn. In order not to cause harm to your body, but to get the maximum benefit from the treatment, before starting the procedures, do not forget to consult a doctor. Be healthy!
Providing first aid in case of overdose
If the patient takes the concentrated solution undiluted, it causes poisoning immediately after ingestion of the drug. An overdose can be recognized by certain symptoms.
First of all, a person feels a burning sensation and pain in the stomach, esophagus and oral cavity, as the mucous membranes are burned. Nausea or vomiting is also observed, heart rate increases, shortness of breath develops, weakness and anxiety appear.
Due to gas embolism, the patient cannot breathe fully, feels dizzy and has a severe headache, while the skin of the face turns red or blue. With acute chest pain, consciousness is sometimes disturbed and lost. This condition is accompanied by convulsive generalized seizures, similar to epilepsy.
Since gas embolism is deadly, it is important to provide first aid to the patient before doctors arrive.
- The patient should drink a liter of water, after which vomiting should be induced by touching a teaspoon to the root of the tongue. This will clear the stomach of drunk hydrogen peroxide.
- Next, they take sorbent in the form of activated carbon, Atoxil, Polysorb, Enterosgel. The required drug is used according to the attached instructions.
Further actions are taken by emergency doctors. The patient will be taken to the toxicology or intensive care unit. The prognosis of treatment depends on the severity of poisoning and the amount of medicine consumed.
What it is?
Hydrogen peroxide, which looks like H2O2 to chemists and is known to ordinary people as hydrogen peroxide, was first synthesized by the French chemist, pharmacist and technologist Louis Jacques Thénard at the beginning of the 20th century.
Without going into scientific details, peroxide can be characterized as follows: it is a colorless, slightly viscous liquid, whose molecular weight is 1.5 times heavier than that of water. Due to this, this substance is easily soluble:
- In water.
- In alcohols.
- On air.
A concentrated solution of peroxide, even if this solution is aqueous, is very explosive.
How does hydrogen peroxide affect the body?
When it enters the bloodstream, it interacts with catalase in plasma and white blood cells. Next, hydrogen peroxide penetrates the cell membrane of red blood cells, entering into a chemical reaction with red blood cell catalase. And at this stage, oxygen is released, which begins to fight the infection. In addition, peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent, as a result of which the toxic waste products of bacteria are oxidized and removed from the body.
Hydrogen peroxide can cure many bacterial and viral diseases, even those that are difficult to treat and, most often, become chronic with periodic exacerbations (herpes, candidiasis). By purifying the blood, healing from skin diseases and allergies of various etiologies occurs.

Pros of treatment
Despite all the risks listed above, there are a lot of people who want to try the effects of peroxide on themselves. Everyone's goals are different. Some people want to cope with illnesses, others want to lose weight, and others want to get a boost of energy and a surge of strength.
Use for weight loss
The use of hydrogen peroxide enriches tissues with atomic oxygen, which has a completely positive effect on the entire body:
- strengthens the immune system;
- rejuvenates;
- normalizes hormone levels;
- reduces blood sugar;
- improves brain function, etc.
These factors contribute to effective weight loss. In order to get rid of extra pounds, you need to follow the same regimen that is used to treat diseases.
Effect on the digestive system
It is believed that the effect of peroxide on the gastrointestinal tract can eliminate many problems. Peroxide diluted in water passes through the mouth and esophagus on its way to the stomach. If the concentration of the active component is incorrect, problems can arise from the first sip, causing a burn to the mucous membrane.
In the stomach, processing of the incoming liquid begins and oxygen is released. Its absorption occurs almost immediately, as it easily penetrates the cells.
Action provided:
- antiseptic treatment of the gastrointestinal tract;
- normalization of acid-base balance;
- stopping bleeding;
- improving the healing of wound surfaces.
It is believed that peroxide normalizes acidity and saves from heartburn. As a result, the stomach begins to work fully, better absorbing incoming nutrients.
Atomic oxygen saturation
Many people face a lack of oxygen - residents of megacities, those who work and live in an unfavorable environment, as well as those who lead an unhealthy lifestyle and have an unbalanced diet. Oxygen deficiency and a sedentary lifestyle contribute to this. Hydrogen peroxide that gets inside partially compensates for this deficiency.
For your information! In addition to oral administration, the intravenous method of administering peroxide can also be used. It is more complex and dangerous and requires medical qualifications.
Cleaning – oxidation
Toxic substances and wastes when exposed to hydrogen peroxide are oxidized and removed. This may be needed after poisoning, for example, with alcohol.
It is impossible to guarantee that hydrogen peroxide cures when taken orally. This method has supporters and opponents, even among prominent doctors. If you decide on this type of therapy, you should definitely take into account the possible risks and familiarize yourself with the list of indications and contraindications.
Is it harmful to take hydrogen peroxide internally?
According to numerous reviews from doctors, hydrogen peroxide has not only benefits, but also harm when taken orally. In general, this is a safe medicine, but it is important to strictly follow the prescribed dosage to avoid poisoning.
The drug is contraindicated for internal use in case of individual intolerance, pancreatic dysfunction, ulcers and gastritis. For diabetes and atherosclerosis, it is important to follow all instructions; before using a folk remedy, you should consult your doctor.
During therapy, the patient may experience side effects such as drowsiness, nausea, weakness, leg rashes, and diarrhea. If a slight burning sensation appears in the stomach, the dose should be reduced so that the body gets used to it.
- During treatment with peroxide, a person can only use harmless herbal remedies. It is not allowed to use other medications at the same time; at least half an hour must pass between taking medications.
- If the patient has transplanted organs, the use of hydrogen peroxide should be avoided. This is due to the high impact of the drug on tissue oxidation and restoration, which is not recommended in the presence of donor organs.
- During pregnancy, taking the medication is contraindicated, as it may harm the fetus.
P
According to Dr. Neumyvakin, perhydrol solution helps normalize metabolism, oxidative and reduction processes, improves immunity, cleanses the body of toxins and waste, and prevents the development of many diseases.
During therapy, only a pure 3% solution without impurities is used. One drop of peroxide is diluted in 50 ml of drinking water, this remedy is taken three times a day. Every day the dosage is increased by one drop of the drug. After 10 days, a three-day break is taken and the procedure is repeated. The medicine is taken 30 minutes before meals.
