Features of the drug
Gardeners quite often use this particular drug because of its very wide spectrum of activity.
Aktara has a good effect on foliage and improves product quality. It has very low consumption rates, which necessitates the need for a minimum number of treatments. The drug is not influenced by external environmental conditions and is equally effective at high temperatures, rainy weather, low or high humidity, and is resistant to solar insolation.
As a rule, the effect of the drug is quite long-lasting.
Pesticide poisoning in animals
Humans are not the only ones who can experience harmful effects from chemicals. Representatives of fauna are also susceptible to intoxication.
In animals, poisoning causes the following symptoms:
- Lack of interest in food.
- Trembling in the muscles.
- Heavy flow of saliva.
- Respiratory dysfunction.
- Liquid stool with blood particles.
- Unsteady gait.
Medical assistance activities include:
- Exclusion from the diet of feed that contains the toxin.
- Gastric lavage using medications or a tube.
- The animal must be given an antidote, a laxative, and provided with plenty of water.
- For treatment, diuretics and medications that restore respiratory function are used.
Release form and composition
The disadvantage of Aktara, a remedy for the Colorado potato beetle, is that it is difficult to find, since a minimum number of specialized stores stock this product.
When purchasing this insecticide, there is no need to check the quality of the product, since Aktara is a new product, and cases of counterfeiting of the drug have not yet been reported.
Available in VDG (water-dispersed granules). It is packaged in foil packaging, weighing 4 g, and is also available in bottles of 250 g each. Its chemical composition includes the substance thiamethoxam (240 g/l and 250 g/kg).

Instructions for use of Aktara insecticide
Aktara is used by spraying the above-ground parts of plants. Instructions for use of the drug include the preparation of the working fluid, which should take place in the open air.
The solution is prepared by dissolving the contents of the bag in a liter of water. In this case, it is better to use a capacious container with a volume of up to 2 liters.
In the process of preparing the working fluid, the sprayer tank is filled one quarter with water. To water potatoes, you need to add 150-200 ml of the drug, for currants - 250 ml, for flower crops - 600 ml. Then increase the volume to five liters. Next, you need to close the sprayer with a lid and shake vigorously. After this, the sprayer is completely ready and can be used.
There is also another method for treating large areas. The package of the drug is diluted in three liters of water. Each liter of the resulting solution is added to a volume of 10 liters.
To soak the seedlings, the package of the drug is diluted in a liter of water. This proportion is suitable for soaking 200 plants. The soaking procedure usually lasts two hours, after which the plants are ready for planting. The remaining liquid is increased to 10 liters and used to water a fresh bed.
The protective effect of the drug when planting seedlings lasts 2.5 months. Next, additional watering is required at the rate of one package per two liters of water, and for each plant - 20 ml of the prepared solution. After this procedure, the plants will remain protected for another two months.
It is very useful to use the drug for treating potato seeds; for this you need to know how to properly dilute the drug. Instructions for using actara for potatoes are to use a 6 gram package, which is diluted in 300 grams of water. Then the tubers need to be poured onto the film, sprayed and you can start planting in the ground.
Aktara insecticide belongs to the 3rd hazard class - a moderately dangerous substance. Therefore, treatment of plants with the drug must be carried out in protective equipment: glasses, overalls, respirator, gloves. Do not smoke, eat or drink while working with the drug. After finishing the treatment, you must remove dirty clothes, wash your hands and face thoroughly with soap.
Prepare a solution of Aktara insecticide on the street (open space). First, prepare a mother solution - pour the entire package of Aktar into a 1.5-2 liter container and add 1 liter of clean water. The working solution is prepared in the sprayer itself.
Fill the sprayer a quarter full with water, and add 150-200 ml of mother solution for spraying potatoes, 250 ml for currants, and 600 ml for flower crops. After this, dilute the solution with clean water to 5 liters. Close the tank in the sprayer, mix well and you can start processing.
The optimal time for applying the drug is in the morning and evening in dry and windless weather at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
Poison for cockroaches, we poison ourselves or insects
This post has already been read 4081 times!
Good day, dear readers. The other day I heard on the news that the owners were seriously poisoned by cockroach poison. Fortunately, everything worked out, but the couple spent almost two weeks in the hospital before their health was no longer in danger. So I thought - how can it be that such dangerous substances are sold freely to everyone?
Today's article is entirely devoted to insecticides. We will talk about which cockroach poison is most often used in insecticides. You will find out whether it is possible to get poisoned during the pest control process, and how to avoid it.
I will tell you how to choose and use insect repellents correctly. At the same time, we will discuss the rules of safe pest control - after all, as you know, God protects the best. So make yourself comfortable - I have a lot of important information for you.
Mechanism of action
Thanks to the teomethoxam contained in the preparation, which has a positive effect on seedlings, the activity and level of a certain kind of proteins that perform a vital function of plants increases.
Consequently, they develop better and become more resistant to external factors. Aktara not only fights the pest, but also enhances the growth process of the plant.
Effect on insects and beetles
After you have treated the problem areas where pests have accumulated, within thirty minutes Aktara will begin to act directly on the digestive functions of the pests, and they will immediately stop feeding.
After twenty-four hours, the beetles die. If you apply the drug directly under the root of the plant, it will be protected from pests for two months, and spraying will provide you with four weeks of getting rid of beetles.
First of all, when poisoned by insecticides, the human central nervous system is affected. This is due to the direct effect of these substances on neuronal membranes in the brain and spinal cord. Under the influence of these toxins, neurons are excited and discharges are duplicated.
Moreover, certain insecticides increase sensitivity to endogenous catecholamines of the heart muscle, and this is a direct path to the development of arrhythmia.
Danger of chemicals to the body
This group of substances fights plant diseases, weeds, insects that spoil wool, cotton, and leather products.
Pesticides contain copper, mercury, and phosphorus compounds. Due to their high toxicity, chemicals are stored in places inaccessible to children. Before using substances, you should also take care of protective equipment. Under what circumstances is intoxication possible? Cases of pesticide poisoning occur both in enterprises and at home. Not only people, but also animals can suffer from the effects of substances. This happens if the compounds penetrate into the feed or end up on the grass when sprayed. Intoxication is especially severe in pediatric patients.
Dosage rate for Aktara
Period of protective action: 14–28 days when spraying crops, when applied in soil – 40–60 days.

Proper diet for patients
For two days after illness, a person is recommended to fast and drink plenty of water. On the third day, you can switch to gentle nutrition. The diet should contain the following products:
- First courses pureed.
- Liquid foods made from cereals.
- Low-fat broths.
- Lean meat in minced form.
- Puree vegetables.
Solid foods are introduced into the diet a little later. You should eat food often, but in small quantities. It is especially important for minor patients to adhere to a diet. After all, children's bodies are very susceptible to external influences.
Therefore, you should not spoil your recovering baby with his favorite treats. During the recovery period after illness, it is undesirable to consume:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Chocolate.
- Confectionery.
- Fried, fatty, salty and spicy foods.
- Beans.
Adult patients should refrain from drinking alcohol.
How to dilute Aktar insecticide for garden plants and vegetables
If it is necessary to treat garden plants and vegetables, actara should be diluted correctly.
- for treating tomatoes growing in open ground and greenhouses to protect against aphids, whiteflies and Colorado potato beetles, dilute 4 grams of the drug in 10 liters of water when watering at the root; when spraying - 1.2 grams per 10 liters;
- you can cure cucumbers from diseases of aphids, tobacco thrips, and whitefly by watering them at the root with a solution in the proportion of 8 grams of aktar per 10 liters of water; for spraying, the solution is prepared in proportions of 2-4 g per 10 liters;
- to protect eggplants and peppers from diseases of tobacco thrips, aphids and roseanne thrips, they are watered at the root in the proportion of 4-8 grams of the drug per 10 liters of water and used for spraying (2-4 g per 10 liters);
- you can get rid of onion flies and thrips, which often appear on grown onions, by spraying, for which you take 4 grams of the drug per 10 liters of water;
- You can cure an apple tree from the slowworm and codling moth with a spray solution of 3 grams of aktara per 10 liters of water. For pears, a little more is required - 4 grams per 10 liters;
- when treating cabbage against flies and flea beetles, water the seedlings in the proportion of 3 grams of the drug per 10 liters of water;
- If there are thrips on the rose bushes, then dilute 16 grams of actara in 10 liters of water; to treat aphids you will need only 4 grams of the drug.
Prevention of parasites
The main task of apartment and house owners is to deprive pests of comfortable living conditions. Cleanliness in the apartment (especially in the kitchen), the absence of mountains of garbage, normal working taps, pipes without leaks do not allow cockroaches to actively reproduce. Without water and food, insects will quickly leave such an “inhospitable” house.
It is very important to promptly seal cracks in baseboards, glue torn linoleum, and monitor the condition of window sills and door frames. It is better to close the choke boxes with special grilles with small holes so that parasites cannot crawl from neighbors.
Technique for using the drug
At the first symptoms of pest attack, treatment is carried out with the drug. It is recommended to carry out all preparatory work in the fresh air.
First, a working solution is prepared - the drug (4 g) is dissolved in a liter of water, stirred and adjusted to the required volume.
Consumption rate
- for house plants – 0.8–1 g per 1 liter of water;
- for processing potatoes – 1.2 g/10 l;
- against aphids – 2 g/10 l;
- for treating outdoor ornamental plants – 8 g/10 l.
Methods of application
- Watering – dilute 4 g of the drug in 2 liters of water. Water the ground under the plants with 25–50 ml of working fluid per bush.
- Spraying is carried out using a fine spray bottle; for garden and vegetable crops, a backpack sprayer is used. Moisten the entire surface of the plant to be treated evenly and generously.
- Soaking seedlings - the procedure is carried out 12 hours before planting in open ground. Dilute 1.5 g of the product in 1 liter of water (consumption rate for 200 bushes), soak the plants for 1.5–2 hours.
- Treatment of potato tubers for planting - 6 g of the drug per 300 g of water. Spread the tubers in one layer on plastic wrap and spray with the prepared insecticide solution. Mix thoroughly and plant immediately into the ground.
Causes of pesticide poisoning
Pesticide poisoning can be occupational or domestic. The first type occurs when a person, due to the nature of his activity, comes into contact with agrochemicals. The risk group includes employees of agriculture, crop production, and the chemical industry. Pesticide poisoning can occur as a result of failure to comply with safety precautions during the preparation of agrochemicals, their distribution, cleaning and repair of related equipment.
Household poisoning occurs less frequently. Poisoning is associated with inept and incorrect independent use of drugs - for example, during home baiting of insects. You can also inhale toxic fumes while processing carefully grown strawberries in your summer cottage, so always follow the precautions specified by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Compatibility with other drugs
Most poisons are incompatible with other drugs, but this does not apply to Aktar.
It can be combined with various kinds of insecticides, fungicides, pesticides and growth regulators, but not with drugs that have an alkaline reaction.
Aktara is convenient because it combines well with most insecticides and fungicides common in agricultural and gardening practice. However, it is best to check the compatibility of the components before starting the alignment.
Among the drugs with which it is permissible to mix actara are:
- zircon;
- ribav extra;
- epin.
The only exceptions are drugs with an alkaline reaction. Drug compatibility must be checked every time.
Professional exterminators
The help of such specialists is required if the majority of apartments in a multi-storey building are infested with arthropod pests. It is problematic to cope with entire colonies on your own, since they move from one apartment to another. To achieve maximum effect, treatment is carried out in all infected rooms at the same time.
Before using the products, specialists tightly close windows and doors. In order to prevent the spread of insects in rooms that have not been infected, cracks and ventilation holes are covered with building materials and mosquito nets.
The elimination of populations of arthropod pests is carried out by specially trained professionals using potent insecticides and appropriate equipment. They process all objects, furniture and surfaces. The drugs they use have a long range of action.
Since the smell from the products they use spreads outside the apartment, people leave the multi-story building during the treatment.
If one of the homeowners has not given consent to treatment, but also has arthropod pests, then SES employees are involved. They assess the condition of the home and issue an appropriate conclusion. This document can be used when filing a claim in court.
Fighting red and black insects is a troublesome process. In order to cope with them, it is necessary to carry out a whole range of measures. If you do not take action, the consequences can be unpleasant. Pests often caused allergic reactions and infectious diseases.
Insecticide toxicity
Moderately toxic to humans and mammals - hazard class 3.
Low toxicity to all aquatic organisms, birds and earthworms.
Highly toxic to bees and other beneficial insects.
When working with the drug, use rubber or silicone gloves, a respirator or a gauze bandage.
You cannot smoke, eat or drink at this time.
After the procedures, remove protective equipment, wash your hands with soap, and rinse your mouth.
Poisoning is manifested by a decrease in motor functions, the development of clonic and tonic convulsions, nausea, vomiting, and general weakness.
Clinical trials have shown that the drug is distributed exclusively along the stems and leaves. Signs of the presence of the drug in the fruits were not detected, which indicates its high hygienic safety when used for drip irrigation of vegetable crops.
Toxicity, however, was observed with oral administration. Experiments were carried out on rats and mice.
In terms of human health, aktara belongs to the third hazard class, which means there is no serious threat. Care is required if inhalation or ingestion is possible, which can cause acute poisoning and a number of symptoms:
- convulsions;
- decreased motor activity.
Its strong toxicity manifests itself in relation to bees, for which it represents the first highest class of danger. The drug is slightly toxic to fish, birds, earthworms and organisms living in water.
Other signs
Depending on what substances are included in the pesticides, the manifestations of intoxication may be different. If the chemicals contain phosphorus, the victim experiences respiratory and vascular dysfunction, agitation, and pupils become smaller. Wheezing can be heard in the lungs. In severe cases, the person falls into a coma and suffers cardiac arrest. When poisoning with compounds that include chlorine, the symptoms are different. The skin acquires a red tint, tears appear, discomfort in the throat, muscle weakness, disorders of the liver and urinary organs, and cough.
If intoxication occurs with pesticides containing mercury, the victim feels an unpleasant taste in the mouth. When poisoned by substances containing metals, a person’s consciousness is impaired, and malfunctions occur in the digestive and lymphatic systems.
Individuals who use such chemicals should be aware of the characteristics of pesticide poisoning, symptoms and treatment of pathology.
Precautionary measures
The poison from the Colorado potato beetle Aktara has moderate toxicity (its index is three), but it is quite dangerous for humans. All manipulations with it must be carried out after first protecting your body from contact of poison with the skin.
For this purpose, special clothing, glasses that protect the eyes from particles of the drug that float in the air during spraying, gloves and a respirator are perfect. These simple precautions can protect you from poisoning.
After you have finished spraying, immediately change clothes, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and rinse your mouth.
Aktara works great against various types of pests, but it can also harm you and your plant if you do not use it correctly and do not strictly follow all the prescribed recommendations.
Remember that after spraying it is necessary to maintain the specified time until harvesting!
Due to the fact that actara poses a particular danger to bees, it is prohibited to process flowering entomophilous crops during the active summer season of bees. The drug is also prohibited in the sanitary zone of reservoirs where fisheries are located.
General signs of the disease
Manifestations of intoxication are approximately the same in all cases. They do not depend on the route of entry of the poison into the body. Experts distinguish between mild, moderate and severe degrees of pathology. The severity of symptoms is determined by the concentration of the chemical and its volume. In case of pesticide poisoning in humans, the following phenomena are observed:
- Attacks of dizziness.
- Changes in behavior (in children). The baby often cries, feels weak, and moves little.
- Headache.
- Increased salivation.
- Acceleration of heart rate.
- Marked weakness.
- If a person inhales toxic chemicals, he develops a strong taste in the mouth and severe coughing attacks.
- Patients with chronic pathologies suffer from exacerbation of disease symptoms.
In the absence of adequate therapy, a severe form of intoxication may develop. It is characterized by the following symptoms:
- Profuse perspiration.
- Reduced pupils.
- Respiratory disorders.
- Blue skin tone.
- Seizures.
Storage of the drug Aktara
The drug should be stored in a dry and cool place, the temperature of which ranges from -15 to 30 degrees. At the same time, it should be located far from food and medicine, and its place should be inaccessible to children and pets.
The working solution cannot be stored. The shelf life of the drug itself is three years from the date of manufacture.
It is recommended to store the drug in a closed, dry room, the temperature should be approximately from –10C to 35C.
Valid for 4 years from the date of manufacture.
How to detect pests?
It is not difficult to detect the presence of arthropods in the kitchen or other living space.
- The appearance of black dots. When moving on tables or cabinets, insects leave their own excrement. Black spots are also found on food.
- Special smell. Specific aromas appear in the home if the number of pests is huge.
- Ootecae with larvae. Masonry is found in secluded places and crevices. If you have discovered ootheca, then it will take more time to treat the premises and remove arthropods.
- Visual contact. It is possible with a large population.
What methods of assistance are prohibited
Most of the usual measures taken for most poisonings are inappropriate for intoxication with household chemicals:
- Activated carbon. This is an excellent remedy, indispensable for poisoning. But a person who has received burns to the esophagus after swallowing a caustic substance will physically not be able to take even one tablet, while coal is taken at the rate of 1 piece per 1 kg of the poisoned person’s weight.
- Potassium permanganate. It’s not worth taking risks with it at all, because if even one tiny crystal of this powerful oxidizing agent remains undissolved, it will immediately settle in the burned stomach and “eat through” its mucous membrane even deeper.
- Gastric lavage and induction of vomiting. If a person has already swallowed a chemical, the caustic composition has already passed through the digestive organs once, leaving deep burns on them. Inducing vomiting is a direct provocation of the repeated passage of corrosive and burning substances through the esophagus, which means that the mucous membranes will be damaged even more. In addition, if the poisoned person has swallowed foaming agents, vomiting will provoke even more foam formation, which will lead to blockage of the airways.
- Enema. If the chemical has managed to penetrate from the stomach into the small intestine, its walls are already damaged. An additional “invasion” will only add problems, so doing this at home is not recommended, even if you have extensive experience in performing the procedure.
