In order to protect your health and the health of your loved ones from the irreparable, everyone should know the composition of nasvay. Nasvay is a non-smoking drug, but it causes both mental and nicotine dependence more than from smoking cigarettes. This remedy has other names: nasybay, us, nat, nose, ice.
Nasvay and methods of its extraction and production come from Eastern countries, namely from Central and Central Asia. Now it is widespread in Russia, especially in Moscow, India and Nepal, Belarus and is very popular among schoolchildren and students due to many myths. Firstly, it is a mistake that nasvay helps (favors) getting rid of tobacco addiction, which is why in many cities it is sold along with spices. There is a myth opposite to reality that ice cleans teeth well.
Nasvay - what is it?
What is it - nasvay or nasvayt? These and similar names refer to chewing tobacco that came to Russia and specifically to Moscow from Asian countries. Asians use it out of a habit that has developed over centuries, while Europeans use it mainly as a means to give up cigarettes. Let's take a closer look at whether nasvay is prohibited, why it is harmful, its composition, action, what it looks like, consequences of use and how to quit it.
Spreading
central Asia
Currently, in the countries of the region it is freely sold in markets, usually on trays with cigarettes and sunflower seeds. The exception is Turkmenistan, where in 2008 President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov issued a decree banning the production, sale, use and import of nasvay [1].
In 2011, nasvay was included in the list of narcotic substances and psychotropic drugs subject to control in Kazakhstan. [2]
Russia
In Russia, nasvay is not a traditional product, but has gained popularity in recent years, especially among teenagers.
Nasvay is sold in the markets of Moscow [3], cities of the Volga region and the Urals, and in other regions of the country. Typically, trade is carried out on trays with spices, and nasvay is positioned as a remedy for nicotine addiction.
According to the association of tobacco distributors “Grandtabak” [4], in the first half of 2004, the Russian volume of imports of “chewing tobacco “nasvay”” from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan amounted to almost 67 tons (total value of 16.5 thousand dollars). Nasvay is also supplied through smuggling.
On February 23, 2013, the President of the Russian Federation signed Federal Law No. 15-FZ “On protecting the health of citizens from the effects of environmental tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco consumption,” establishing a ban on the sale of nasvay [5]. Both wholesale and retail trade in nasvay are prohibited (part 8 of article 19 of this Federal Law).
Other countries
A product sold in India and Nepal is called gutka, a type of betel nut chew with tobacco added.
Doctors in Belarus report about the use of nasvay [6], the Estonian press reports about the distribution of nasvay in discos [7], in Ukraine, the Vinnitsa media wrote about the sale of nasvay. [8]
What is nasvay made from and its production
The name of this composition (you can see that all variants have the root “us”) comes from the name of the plant Us from which it was previously derived. But don’t think that this hasn’t changed in our industrial era of consumer goods.
What does nasvay consist of and are its components made? Typically this includes the following components:
- shag or tobacco, and often tobacco dust;
- slaked lime;
- plant ash;
- chicken droppings;
- camel dung;
- oil, dried fruits and seasonings.
Because of all this, the product has an unpleasant taste, but it is not noticeable due to the seasonings.
They are not official components, but very harmful substances are found in mixtures: arsenic, cadmium and mercury.
At the same time, there is no single composition of this drug: nasvay is never made industrially (it is prepared artisanally), like some other drugs, and differs greatly in the components themselves, their concentration and appearance.
The latter ranges from oily greenish balls to black or brown powder, but there are other types. The appearance shows the quality of the composition (granules are considered closer to real nasvay than powder) and the region of production: Fergana, Tashkent, etc.

Nasvay
Effect of use
It is not for nothing that this drug is called a drug and has not been allowed for free sale in Russia since 2013. You can buy nasvay only under the counter. Its “beneficial” effect (state of euphoria) lasts only a few minutes, after which disorders of both physiological and mental planes follow:
- dizziness, excessive salivation, burning in the mouth, decreased muscle tone, darkening of the eyes, tingling sensation in the arms and legs;
- narrowing of blood vessels and deterioration of oxygen supply to all organs, which is fraught with strokes, heart attacks and other circulatory problems. This is due to the nicotine contained in the composition. In fact, there is much more nicotine in nasvay than in cigarettes, so it would be more logical to jump off nasvay with the help of cigarettes than vice versa;
- salts of cadmium, mercury, lead, etc. accumulate in the body and cause damage to the nervous system, liver, kidneys, and make bones brittle and deformed. They also develop kidney and liver failure, manifested in vomiting, diarrhea, nausea;
- damage to the mucous membranes of the mouth. Drug addicts, even with average experience, look scary: they have persistent ulcers on their lips, obsequious reddish growths inside and outside;
- Infection with parasites often occurs due to the presence of bird droppings and manure;
- medical studies show a direct relationship between cancer and the use of nasvay: about 80% of cases of mucosal cancer are associated with this drug;
- and, unfortunately, nasvay is addictive, like any other drug. More on this below.

Nasvay is a drug
Psychotropic substances (those that affect the mind and change the state of consciousness) are added to nasvay mixtures. It is also often mixed with ephedrine to enhance addiction.
It also contains neurotoxic substances (for example, lead, cadmium and mercury, which far exceed the safe limit for food formulations).
Articles of the criminal code also interpret the production at home and the use of nasvay as the reception and distribution of the drug: any operations with it are punishable by imprisonment under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for a period of 1 year.
And, of course, there is no certificate of quality and safety of nasvay in any state register, no matter what its price.
It is addictive and prohibited. It poisons the body and causes the same effects as other drugs (cocaine, spac, heroin, amphetamines, etc.). Therefore, do not believe the words of obsequious distributors of this substance that it is just like a cigarette or chewing gum, that it cannot be harmful and is legal, since all of Asia has long been saturated with it. It is poison and cannot be called anything else.

Myths about nasvay
Thanks to criminals who want to quickly sell batches of eastern nasvay, myths are invented about how wonderful this composition is. Here are just a few of them:
- With the help of nasvay you can quit smoking. In a sense, this is true: when you use nasvay, you will not crave cigarettes. But this is only because it contains much more nicotine than tobacco. Dependence on it is more severe than on tobacco. Nasvay is much more harmful than cigarettes in any sense, and also much smellier than them;
- The product is natural, so it is not a threat to the body. Here it is necessary to remember that opium, marijuana, peyote, cocaine, tobacco and other delights of nature are no less natural, and no matter how much they cost or what quality;
- helps with anxiety and stress. Yes, for 5-7 minutes. After which the person is overtaken by so many side effects that he considers his past stress to be a wonderful state that he wants to achieve again;
- The most ridiculous myth is that nasvayt is a cure for toothache. An unfounded assumption that has never been confirmed;
- The biggest myth is that it is not a drug. But this has already been written above.
Composition of nasvay
Smokeless tobacco nasvay may contain various components:
- Natural base: shag, tobacco, sometimes henbane, burnt oak bark, dope, wormwood
- Slaked lime is required to improve the absorption of nicotine and other psychoactive substances into the blood
- Ash, animal excrement (chicken droppings)
There is no specific strict recipe for nasvay when making it. To improve the taste of the drug, “craftsmen” add various kinds of dried fruits, and rarely, flavorings.
How to stop using nasvay
Unfortunately, you can’t simply decide and give up this drug: withdrawal symptoms begin, and you can’t replace it with cigarettes. Therefore, the drug addict will have to undergo rehabilitation.
You can distract yourself from withdrawal symptoms by changing your surroundings, playing sports or just working. However, only strong people will be able to do this. There is a minus: harmful substances still remain in the body and will subsequently make themselves felt during physical activity or an active lifestyle. A decrease in intelligence, attentiveness, and ability to concentrate - this is what awaits a drug addict without cleansing the body.
Drug treatment clinics provide this service. However, they detoxify with strong medical drugs, which is also bad for health and harms a person's awareness.
However, you can refer a person to our Narconon program, where help is technological and modern, but at the same time gentle and humane. Rehabilitation uses non-drug products and procedures that allow a person to completely get rid of cravings and predisposition to nasvay.
This program is a world leader in the field of complete eradication of drug addiction: it has an indicator of 87% of people who have completely quit drugs and returned to normal life (without any reservations such as the need to continue taking medications, visiting psychologists, taking substitutes, etc.).

Impact on the body
Since nasvay has toxic properties, its use cannot but affect the health of the addict. According to scientific experts, nasvay is a psychotropic drug.
Scientists came to this conclusion based on observations of addicts. The signs of nasvay use are obvious.
Teenagers who use this tobacco mixture become irritable and aggressive. They cease to be interested in the surrounding reality, apathy and physically noticeable malaise appear.
Although the person is in a state of euphoria during resorption, side effects may occur at the same time, for example:
- burning, tingling of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity;
- heaviness throughout the body;
- nausea caused by increased salivation;
- dizziness;
- apathy.
Almost every drug addict has problems with teeth and gums. A person taking nasvayt has bad breath.
Exposure to nasvay causes caries, periodontal disease, and other serious diseases of the oral cavity. The first sign of nasvay consumption is yellowed teeth and sore gums. Red eye color and yellowish skin tone also indicate drug abuse.
Most drug users suffer from stomach and duodenal ulcers, because ingestion of the drug during use is inevitable. The active components of the substance disrupt the digestive system. This pathology leads to the development of further complications.
If you take the drug regularly, the following diseases may develop:
- cardiac, renal, liver failure;
- increased blood pressure;
- vegetative abnormalities;
- disruption of the gastrointestinal tract;
- damage to the mucous membranes of the throat, mouth and nose;
- destruction of teeth and gums;
- increased sweating;
- development of malignant neoplasms.
Nasvay, the symptoms and signs of which are immediately noticeable, causes complete or partial loss of taste and smell. This fact is due to the fact that the dung contained in the drug burns the nerve receptors responsible for recognizing tastes and smells.
Summer residents and gardeners use chicken manure to water many crops. However, any experienced gardener will say with confidence that feces not diluted with water burn all living things. This fact makes it possible to understand the effect of nasvay on the body and find out what it is.
Excrement in the mixture can cause intestinal infections. If your temperature rises, you should immediately consult a doctor.
The use of nasvay is increasingly becoming the cause of heart attacks in people of different ages. The reason for this is impaired blood circulation. For the same reason, men's potency decreases.
The drug has a detrimental effect on the production of hormones. During pregnancy and lactation, the use of nasvay is strictly prohibited.
Nasvay causes consequences that negatively affect the health of women and children. Tobacco poisoning, which acts as a primary toxin, can be fatal to the fetus.
Bill No. 395252-7
It was introduced back in 2020, and was considered in the first reading on February 13, 2020. It assumes increased administrative liability for the sale of snus and nasvay (for individuals the fine increases to 15,000 - 20,000 rubles). In addition, it is expected to clarify Part 3 of Art. 14.53 and its addition with an indication of the possibility of applying punishment for the sale of tobacco products to a minor, but also tobacco products other than nasvay and snus.
Apparently, this particular bill will ultimately be adopted, but possibly with amendments.

Symptoms of use
The use of nasvay does not have pronounced symptoms, so parents often miss the moment when the child begins to use the product. As a result, a persistent dependence on the substance develops. To prevent this from happening, you need to be more attentive to the child and respond to any changes that occur to him.
Some signs of using nasvay:
- Frequent spitting.
- Changing the shade of saliva to green.
- Fatigue quickly even in the absence of excessive physical exertion.
- Increased sweating.
- Weakening of muscles.
- Unpleasant specific odor from the mouth.
- Worsening grades at school.
- Changes in behavior - the appearance of irritability, aggression and other negative character traits.
One of the first signs that appears due to the use of nasvay is orthostatic collapse. It consists of fainting when getting out of bed and blurred vision.
