How to tell if a person smokes weed: symptoms in adults and teenagers

Human life is oversaturated with various types of temptations. This is gambling, alcohol and drugs. In the drug world, the greatest harm comes from smoking weed. It is especially common among young people, as it is considered a soft drug that does not provoke addiction and dependence. This opinion is erroneous, because narcotic smoking mixtures cause the development of persistent addiction at the psychological and physical level.

Not to mention the harm that weed causes to the body. The consequences of such a hobby can be terrible - almost all smokers eventually switch to using harder drugs, which quickly lead a person to complete degradation and death. How to notice trouble in time? To this end, there are certain signs of smoking weed in adults.

You can recognize a person who smokes weed by some clearly visible signs.

The harm and consequences that marijuana brings

Smoking marijuana can cause serious harm to health. There are rumors that in moderate doses, marijuana can become a cure for many serious diseases, including the treatment of cancer pathologies.

Allegedly, after smoking weed, diseases disappear along with the release of smoke. However, there is no direct scientific evidence for this. But there is evidence of great harm, primarily on the psycho-emotional state of a person.

A complete list of how smoking marijuana can negatively affect your health is given below:

  1. Mental disorder (psychosis, personality disorder).
  2. Disorders and pathologies of the respiratory system (shortness of breath, cough, pulmonary ephrisema).
  3. Various throat infections, including cancer.
  4. Memory impairment.
  5. Degradation, a significant decrease in intellectual abilities.
  6. Male infertility.
  7. Kidney failure.
  8. Atypical hepatitis.
  9. Disruption of the thyroid gland and the endocrine system as a whole.
  10. Unpredictable impact on the fetus of the unborn child (learnability, mental retardation, detachment from the team).

Drug use causes serious harm to the body. But while some diseases can be cured with medication, other disorders are much more difficult to treat. Smoking, which seems harmless at first glance, can lead a person to schizophrenia. It is very difficult to return brain function to normal.

What are cannabinol and tetrahydrocannabinol

Cannabinol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are substances of the cannabinoid class that do not cause physical dependence, but once in the blood they affect the CB1 and 2AG receptors of the central nervous system.

The main effects of marijuana come from the effects of THC. But CBD can have similar effects on the body. However, these substances are antagonists:

  • CBD “nails and slows down” a person, reduces symptoms of anxiety, neutralizes the psycho-emotional peaks of depression or mania, but at the same time increases the threshold for convulsions.
  • THC – “if you’re lucky” – causes a pleasant buzz, exhilaration, feelings of bliss and euphoria. But in most cases it has a similar effect to CBD: it relieves anxiety, restlessness and excessive agitation.

The total CBD and THC content of marijuana raw materials ranges from 6% to 14%. The proportion of CBD is higher, but the THC is more active, so the effect of consuming marijuana will depend on the case - the balance of these compounds in a particular serving of a particular plant. This indicator is influenced by many components: type of variety, place of growth, time and quality of collection, drying technology, storage conditions and shelf life. Therefore, the amount of narcotic substances contained in a specific dose is not known to anyone and the issue of overdose is only a matter of time.

In January 2020, the Journal of Analytical Toxicology published data confirming that a test for marijuana can be failed due to inhalation of second-hand smoke (secondhand smoke from marijuana). This is why, today, professional athletes are not recommended to be exposed to hemp smoke, as they may fail their drug test by having cannabinoids in their urine.

Looming Threat

While a person “sits” on a smoking mixture, his brain does not have time to degrade completely and is not so clouded. At this level, it is still possible to get rid of addiction and return the individual to normal society, subject to adequate and timely treatment. But first, you need to realize the threat that seemingly harmless weed poses, and learn about the harm that the smoking mixture brings with it.

According to UN statistics, about 160 million people consume narcotic herbal mixtures on a regular basis.

What is "weed"

“Weed” is the popular term for hemp. This plant was once famous for its useful and valuable qualities. But over time, the source of benefit became a real “incarnation of hell.” This metamorphosis occurred due to cannabinoids, which are present in large quantities in the plant. It is these compounds that negatively affect the functioning of the body and cause persistent dependence over time.

During consumption, cannabinoids actively affect brain receptors, which affects the behavior of the addict. While on a smoking high, a person experiences a number of different sensations, ranging from mild euphoria accompanied by inexplicable laughter to hallucinogenic states and memory loss.

Weed is a name for drugs made from hemp.

The vast majority of people, especially young and frivolous people, naively believe that weed is completely harmless. Such a false belief costs not only health, but sometimes even life.

In many countries (and in Russia as well), the cultivation of hemp is prohibited at the official level. Any derivatives of this plant are classified as drugs and are subject to severe penalties for cultivation and distribution.

The danger of “easy” hobby

Smoking cannabis primarily negatively affects the functioning of the central nervous system and the functioning of parts of the brain. The greatest danger of such a hobby is the fact that in the vast majority of cases, a person eventually switches to heavier drugs, when smoking weed no longer satisfies him.

What does smoking weed lead to?

Among the most pronounced consequences caused by addiction to cannabis, experts note the following:

  • mood swings;
  • major personality changes;
  • global damage to the nervous system;
  • numerous problems with teeth and gums;
  • significant decline in mental abilities;
  • destruction of the cortex and subcortical structure of the brain;
  • development of various diseases of the respiratory system;
  • pronounced inhibition in recognizing and understanding new information.

One of the saddest consequences of using weed includes a possible overdose, which can result in death. Accidents often happen to smokers who are high. Being in an altered consciousness, a drug addict can start a fire or create another emergency situation.

What affects the rate at which a drug is eliminated from the body?

According to statistics, 3% of heroin addicts began their “hobby” by using marijuana.
73% of respondents switched to cocaine after smoking weed 1,000 or more times, and 23% became addicted to heroin. Of course, not everyone who gets addicted to “weed” then moves on to more serious substances. Naturally, marijuana is a drug that indirectly leads to heroin, cocaine and other drugs. As a rule, a person wants to isolate himself from unwanted feelings, sensations, and ultimately relax. But the trap of addiction is that using marijuana only masks the negative, after which the problems return again, and the person’s condition becomes even worse. Instead of solving the situation, the person resorts to new drugs.

  • According to the UN, 141 million people on the planet smoke "plan". This is approximately 2% of the entire world population.
  • In 2001 alone, 2.6 million became addicted to marijuana use.
  • In 2002, 7,900 tons of this insidious drug were grown in Mexico.
  • In Colombia, the figure is within 4,000 tons for the same period.
  • 79% of teenagers say that it is not difficult to buy marijuana as a drug.
  • US residents spent 10.5 billion dollars on their “pleasure” in 2000.
  • In 2002, marijuana, as a frequently mentioned drug, was ranked 3rd in drug treatment facilities.
  • 2-5 million people use marijuana in Ukraine (according to 2020 data).
  • In 2020, 5,000 Ukrainians were convicted of smoking and possession of marijuana.

Now in our country there is active debate about the legalization of marijuana, a “soft” drug. And all because in 2020 the UN Assembly recognized forceful methods of combating the drug as ineffective. In addition, countries that have legalized marijuana as a drug are taken as an example. Thus, in the Netherlands the annual income from it is 2.5 billion euros.

The extent to which such measures are necessary in Ukraine is a rather controversial issue. You probably have your own opinion on this matter. So far, marijuana is a drug prohibited in our country. In any case, if you are faced with addiction and decide to end it, we will help you. The Mayak Health rehabilitation center has been operating for many years, during which time more than half of the wards left its walls as healthy individuals. Whether it's marijuana or another drug, we'll do our best.

Marijuana is often classified as a so-called soft drug. This is a non-medical concept; for doctors there are no soft or hard drugs, because all psychoactive drugs cause drug addiction. It’s either there or it’s not, you can’t be “a little bit of a drug addict.” It is more correct to talk about the stage and length of addiction.

What is called a “stronger drug” is, as a rule, a drug that causes addiction in a shorter period of time, sometimes from the first use, and also immediately causes significant harm to the patient’s health. However, it will be difficult to get rid of addiction if you use any drugs.

Marijuana is a natural plant drug; it is the dried and crushed parts of the Indian hemp plant. The herb is used as a smoking drug. Natural cannabinoids contained in hemp are the cause of unusual states of consciousness in drug addicts.

Consult a specialist

The length of time it takes for a drug to leave the body will be influenced by the following factors:

  • Naturally, the strength of the herb matters, that is, the amount of active substance that enters the body.
  • What matters is a person’s weight and the amount of fatty tissue in the body, because it is they that retain and store cannabinoid metabolites.
  • The state of human health, the activity of his metabolic processes.
  • Duration and frequency of herb use.

How to recognize a weed smoker

Signs of cannabis use are not fundamentally different between adults and adolescents. It is important to know these symptoms in order to recognize impending trouble in time and sound the alarm. At the initial level, the problem is still solvable, and the addict needs to be saved before he switches to harder drugs.

How to recognize a cannabis smoker

To find out whether a person uses weed, you should carefully look at the behavior and habits of a friend. If there are changes in his usual state, loved ones should immediately be wary. So, when a person “sits on the grass,” the following signs will be an indicator of such a hobby:

Causeless fun. And for the most inconspicuous reasons. Under the influence of cannabis, a person experiences real “universal” love for everything living, he is bursting with joy and fun. Being in a state of drug intoxication, a person strives to convey his love to everyone around him. And causeless laughter is so strong that it becomes extremely difficult for a drug addict to stop.

How to behave correctly as parents

The main rule for parents of teenagers is not to go to extremes. Many refuse to believe that their child might disobey and try drugs. In fact, all children are at risk, because the main thing that unites them is curiosity and the desire for something new. In addition, marijuana has not been considered something scary in youth society for a long time. It is quite easy to get, and marijuana is inexpensive.

Modern parents must understand that almost all teenagers sooner or later try alcohol, cigarettes and soft drugs.

The second extreme is excessive suspicion. If parents constantly monitor a teenager, look for signs of alcohol or drug intoxication, and regularly search things, this creates unhealthy tension in the family. This will not make the child “better” or more obedient, but trust will be lost forever.

Try to talk to your teenager about drugs calmly and openly, without aggression or constant lecturing. Learn to notice changes in his behavior and analyze them. Be restrained and tactful. First, figure out for yourself what it is and how dangerous it is, so as not to look like a stupid “dinosaur” in the eyes of a child, and only then start a conversation.

There are a huge number of articles on the Internet devoted to this topic. They usually describe signs that may indicate your child is smoking marijuana. However, some of them are uninformative and should not be taken into account:

  • Changes in appetite and eating habits. Indeed, after smoking anasha, many teenagers' appetite improves and they eat much more. Some people overindulge in sweets. But non-smoking children also love sweets, and an active and rapidly growing body requires more food, so the portion may increase.
  • Availability of Rasta accessories and CDs with Rastafarian music. If a teenager bought a T-shirt with hemp leaves or wears a Rastafarian hat, this does not mean that he smokes weed. Perhaps he just likes this style. Those who listen to reggae are also suspected of loving marijuana. This is nothing more than a stereotype.
  • The use of slang expressions in speech is absolutely normal for teenagers. It would be strange if they spoke exclusively correctly.

The behavior of a “moderately smoked” person is practically no different from the usual one, so it can be difficult for parents to understand that something is wrong with their child. Do not believe the stereotypes that a child will definitely laugh, jump or behave inappropriately. It is possible to understand that he used drugs only if the child gives himself away, as they say, “gets caught.” Fearing that parents will suspect something, a teenager may take too long to choose the right words, avoid direct gaze, and carefully control his every move. The desire to “play the role of normal” is what makes the child’s behavior strange.

The longer the experience of using marijuana, the more habitual the state of intoxication becomes for a teenager, and the more natural his behavior will be. Therefore, it is much easier to suspect a child who is just “lighting up” and has difficulty controlling his sensations of drug use.

If a child laughs for no reason, constantly loses the thread of a conversation, or pays attention to little things that he normally would not notice, this is also a serious reason to suspect him of using cannabis. These are signs of severe drug intoxication that occurs after smoking marijuana. Often, after smoking marijuana, teenagers suffer from panic attacks.

Strange behavior is not the only sign of addiction to marijuana. Parents should be concerned about:

  • Characteristic “smoky” eyes. After consuming anasha, the capillaries in the eyes dilate and because of this, the whites acquire a reddish color. In addition, the pupil may dilate or contract. If you notice that something is wrong with your child’s eyes, it is better to ask directly why. Perhaps he just worked at the computer for a long time, was tired, did not get enough sleep, etc. By the way, the probability that he himself will “get caught” is quite high. More experienced smokers often use eye drops, such as Visine, to eliminate redness. So the discovery of such a bottle in things is also suspicious.
  • Anasha aroma. Hemp smoke has a characteristic odor reminiscent of burnt leaves or garden tops. If you notice such a scent in your child’s room or from his things, ask where it comes from. Perhaps the child was simply in the company of smokers. Then he should choose his friends more carefully.
  • Smoking devices in things. A bong, a smoking pipe, a device for stuffing cigarettes, a pack of Belomora, blunts or cartridges for cigarettes look more than suspicious. If they are present in the child’s room, it is better not to postpone the “talk about drugs”.

If all signs point to your child smoking marijuana, don't panic or lash out at your teen. Although there are only a couple of steps from “weed” to hard drugs, nothing terrible has happened yet. In order not to make mistakes and not aggravate the situation, consult with psychologists and try to help your child get rid of his addiction.

Adolescence is a difficult period in a child's life. Teenagers not only face physiological and social problems, but also try drugs such as marijuana for the first time. If you think your child is using marijuana, find evidence rather than blaming him or her. It is necessary to support the child by talking frankly with him.

Signs of smoking marijuana

Of course, teenagers are more likely than adults to become addicted to smoking weed, but it can happen at any age.

Therefore, any changes in the behavior of loved ones should be taken a close look, and sometimes be wary. If a person smokes marijuana, they may exhibit the following symptoms:

  • causeless laughter for the most insignificant reasons, euphoria, a rosy mood, a manifestation of love for the whole world, for others and the desire to convey your love to them, while in the presence of general control over the situation it can be very difficult for a person to stop laughing;
  • bouts of brutal appetite - smoking weed causes an increase in sensations, including taste, so a stoned person can eat at one time as much as would normally last him for a day, while he is not in danger of gaining weight due to changes in metabolism under the influence of it same herbs, but problems with the gastrointestinal tract may well arise due to changes in stomach acidity;
  • changes in the eyes - despite the fact that marijuana, unlike other drugs, does not cause changes in the size of the pupils, a smoker’s eyes can also be identified, since they become red, inflamed, begin to squint, and sometimes close on their own;
  • a feeling of dryness in the mouth (also called the cotton mouth effect), which makes you want to drink;
  • absent-mindedness, inability to concentrate, inattention, impaired short-term memory, due to which a person cannot remember what he did 5 minutes ago and how he ended up in a particular place;
  • talkativeness, increased desire to communicate, which is why, by the way, people rarely smoke weed alone; they usually use it in some company;
  • problems with orientation in time and space, when the subjective sense of time does not coincide with the objective one, and correctly assessing the distance to something becomes difficult;
  • periodic lethargy, slowness, reluctance to move and strive somewhere, some dullness;
  • a very unpleasant smell of sweat, different from the usual one, while a person can constantly carry deodorant or eau de toilette with him to get rid of the smell.

If at least some of these signs appear in a loved one, you need to sound the alarm.

Marijuana addiction takes much longer to develop than other drug addictions. This creates the illusion among drug addicts that smoking weed does not cause any changes in their health.

However, marijuana gradually but inevitably causes addiction. A person who smokes weed has an uncontrollable, irresistible desire to use the drug. This craving includes a psychological and physical component.

Typically, marijuana use begins with occasional, infrequent doses. This is a smokable drug that is often used together with alcohol. At first, the addict does not feel a burning desire to get the drug; he smokes when he has to, on occasion. At this stage of the disease, a psychological dependence on grass arises, it begins to be perceived as a necessary element of a party, a way to relax, without it “the holiday will not be a holiday.”

It is psychological dependence that leads to regular use. When drug use occurs twice a week or more often, a person develops the second side of drug addiction - a physical craving for use. Depending on many factors, its formation can take from several months to several years. As a result, the desire to smoke may appear several times a day.

A sign that a person is developing physical dependence on a psychotropic drug is the occurrence of abstinence syndrome or withdrawal syndrome. In drug addiction, it is called drug withdrawal. This is a whole group of unpleasant and sometimes unbearably painful physical and mental symptoms that arise in the case of regular drug use and then its withdrawal.

The reason for the occurrence of drug withdrawal is that drugs have become involved in the metabolic processes of the body and become their obligatory participant. When stopping the drug, it takes time for the body to readjust to its previous mode of operation and return to its normal state. At this moment, painful symptoms arise; they will persist until all the toxins of the drug are removed from the body.

The first signs of withdrawal from marijuana begin to appear within a few months; after six months of use, a cannabis smoker will already experience exactly what withdrawal is like. The final formation of physical dependence on grass is completed after 2.5 years. Please note that these terms are individual, they depend on the regularity of use at the beginning of addiction, on the metabolic characteristics of the addict, his psychological characteristics, the strength of the drug and a number of other reasons.

The best thing to do is to seek treatment immediately as soon as signs of marijuana addiction are detected.

Withdrawal from marijuana is not such an acute and dangerous condition that it can kill a person in a matter of minutes, but it has quite vivid and unpleasant manifestations.

An addict who already has a physical dependence on marijuana, but cannot smoke or has decided to consciously quit smoking, will experience the following symptoms:

  • A person's sleep patterns are disrupted. Insomnia appears, which can occur constantly day after day, exhausting the patient, or can occur periodically, with some breaks.
  • As we noted above, even a decline in euphoria can lead to sadness and apathy, but during the withdrawal syndrome, real depression awaits the addict.
  • During this period, the patient’s sleep may be haunted by nightmares, as well as dreams about smoking weed, which is no less painful during the period of withdrawal.
  • During abstinence, it is very difficult for a person to focus on anything; thoughts, as they say, wander, attention is scattered.
  • Naturally, no one becomes “white and fluffy” in this state; the drug addict is quick-tempered and irritable. Gradually, a person begins to experience nervous exhaustion.
  • There may be pain in the head and chest.

How can you tell if a person has smoked marijuana?

There are laboratory tests that can detect cannabinoids in urine. The active substances of the drug are removed from the body relatively slowly, since they tend to accumulate in adipose tissue. They can be detected in tests a week or even two after the last episode of marijuana use.

It may even be a layman who notices that a person has smoked dried cannabis. After smoking cannabis, behavior changes dramatically. The addict experiences excitement and euphoria; it seems to him that the colors of the world around him have become brighter. The first stage of intoxication is characterized by causeless laughter, talkativeness and uttering judgments that are strange to others. Then increased psychomotor activity is replaced by slowness and thoughtfulness. A drug addict who uses “weed” begins to feel that literally everything is filled with some kind of deep meaning, but it is extremely problematic for him to formulate and convey his conclusions to other people.

Signs of smoking marijuana:

  • mydriasis (dilated pupils);
  • hyperemia of the lips and facial skin;
  • red eyes;
  • increased physical activity;
  • spontaneity of decision making;
  • unmotivated increase in mood, laughter;
  • increased libido;
  • irritability;
  • deep thoughtfulness;
  • a sharp increase in appetite, “ravenous hunger”;
  • dry mouth;
  • thirst;
  • increased craving for sweets.

With the consumption of high doses, the following symptoms of marijuana consumption appear:

  • pronounced constriction of the pupils;
  • dry lips;
  • pallor;
  • lethargy and lethargy;
  • impaired coordination of movements;
  • sudden change of mood for no reason;
  • withdrawal;
  • anxiety and unreasonable fears.

Please note: After the first “experiment”, a novice marijuana smoker may not notice any changes in his condition. Some people feel euphoria only the third or fourth time, which is apparently due to the individual characteristics of the body and the sensitization of specific receptors.

Stages of impact on the body

Anasha affects each person differently due to the individual characteristics of the body, as well as depending on the amount of tetrahydrocannabinols - psychotropic substances contained in the smoked joint, the dosage used and related substances, usually alcohol.

In cases of combining weed and alcoholic beverages, it should be borne in mind that their interaction can be unpredictable and lead to the most disastrous and negative consequences.

There are three stages of the effects of marijuana on the body:

  1. Appears approximately ten minutes to half an hour after smoking. The person begins to feel better, calmer, relaxes, feels joy and slight drowsiness. But after a few minutes, his hearing and sense of touch become more acute, and it seems to him that everything around him is very loud and bright.
  2. Lasting from one to four hours. At this time, people who have smoked cannabis become more talkative, sociable, and for them any topic discussed seems very important. They are friendly and consider themselves happy and are in a state of euphoria. They want to eat and any food is incredibly tasty.
  3. Exit from drug intoxication. The feeling of peace and tranquility still remains, but boundless joy and happiness gradually disappear. There may also be short-term lapses in memory, loss of the sense of time, for example, it may seem that only a couple of minutes have passed, but in fact an hour and a half.

A little theoretical part

The human pupil is a dark-colored hole in the iris. Through it, a light beam enters the eye organ (retina). Thanks to its unique ability to change its own diameter, the pupil can regulate the flow of light falling on the retina.

In bright, intense lighting, a person's pupil contracts, providing more accurate and distinct perception. In the dark, the pupils dilate. This function of the eye is called pupillary, iris or iritic. The principle of this operation is similar to the action of a camera aperture.

Why do the eyes of a healthy person widen and narrow
? This ability of the eye is provided by the pupillary reflex. When the level of illumination of the retina changes, the cones and rods located on it transmit the corresponding information through the nerve centers to the brain regions responsible for the functioning of the eyes. In a healthy person, regulation of pupil size occurs unconsciously and depends (in addition to the level of illumination) on the following factors:

  1. Physical activity.
  2. Sudden strong fear.
  3. Loud unexpected sound.
  4. Emotional stress.

These stimuli cause pupil dilation. In this way, the nervous system tries to quickly and accurately obtain the necessary information about the stimulus and take appropriate responses.

Is it possible to quit smoking weed?

Can. And you can even become president of the United States after this. The last 3 American presidents smoked weed in their youth. Look what they have brought a once prosperous country to! It’s not a fact that they became like this because of weed, but there is a representative sample.

In late Soviet and transitional times, smoking weed had all the signs of elitism. The joints were indulged in by informals from the majors, that is, children of wealthy parents who protested against the system, but did not refuse generous support. Weed cost serious money and you had to be able to “get” it. Signs of smoking manifested themselves in unbridled fun, explosions of creativity, and a strange view of reality.

Less wealthy young citizens interested in expanding their consciousness slowly but surely switched to the more affordable screw, solid oil, and, finally, to the cemetery.

What kind of pupils do drug addicts have?

Drug addiction is terrible in its consequences; it destroys a person completely, causing irreparable collapse to physical and mental health. Drug addiction has a huge number of faces, because each drug affects a person individually. This also applies to changes in pupils.

During the entire effect of the drug, a person’s eyes are in the same, motionless position. Sometimes they can shift by 1-2 mm.

Constriction of pupils

In this case, the addict’s pupils are small in size and do not respond to artificial lighting. When a flashlight is brought close to the eye sockets, the eyes of a drug addict, whose photo can be seen just below, do not change their size and remain in the same strongly narrowed state, indicating the use of drugs such as:

  • heroin;
  • opiates;
  • morphine;
  • poppy-based drugs;
  • abuse of drugs containing codeine (Nurofen, Codelac, Terpinkod).

When using some drugs, the pupils narrow to a pinpoint size.
The duration of action of these narcotic drugs is 4-5 hours. Throughout this time period, the pupils of a smoked person (or someone who has been stoned) will be sharply constricted. Sometimes to such an extent that only one iris is noticeable and distinguishable. After this time, the eye reflex will gradually recover and return to normal. Well, the man himself should sober up.

The darker the natural color of the eyes, the more difficult their diagnosis becomes at the time of drug use.

What to do with an addict

It is almost impossible to get rid of the craving for smoking cannabis on your own. The situation is explained by the fact that drug addicts, confident in the safety and ease of such a drug, extremely rarely admit that they have a problem and express a desire to put an end to “nonsense.”

In this case, only a specialized clinic can help. Specialists will determine the addict’s condition and develop an individual treatment plan. Help for a drug addict is comprehensive, because it is necessary to rid a person not only of physical, but also of mental addiction.

Well, the path to recovery begins with a visit to a drug treatment room. The doctor performs an initial examination, assesses the patient’s condition, and talks with him and relatives. And then he proposes a treatment program, based on the period of consumption of weed, the frequency of its use and the damage to the body already caused by the drug.

External signs of mild infatuation

The effect of smoking a marijuana cigarette appears in the first seconds. After 20–30 minutes it reaches its maximum. Over the course of 3–4 hours it gradually weakens. In adolescents it is more pronounced than in adults. After smoking marijuana or anasha (hashish), the main load falls on the blood vessels. The heart rate increases to 100–130 beats per minute (the norm is 60–80 beats), blood vessels dilate, and bronchial tone decreases.

The first signs of taking a herbal drug:

  • increased heart rate, increased A/D;
  • irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes - they become inflamed, reddened (pupils of normal size);
  • a feeling of dry mouth - a person who has smoked marijuana (hemp) is thirsty and his voice is slightly hoarse;
  • a sharp increase in appetite is a consequence of accelerated metabolism; usually the addict is drawn to sweets.

Cannabis, the active ingredient in hemp (marijuana), has a pronounced effect on the psyche. Therefore, you can determine that a person has recently smoked weed not only by external signs, but also by his mood. It is characterized by an extraordinary emotional upsurge: someone who smokes weed sees everything “rosy.” The people around them seem kind and friendly, and the addict himself is inclined to “give goodness.” Aggressive behavior in such a state is not typical for a person.

The most ordinary actions bring pleasure. After marijuana, sounds and colors are felt more subtly. This explains the fact that smoking cannabis is popular among the “bohemians”. Under the influence of weed, the perception of the surrounding world changes, and attention to the smallest details becomes more acute.

Weed lovers are characterized by emotional liberation. They become talkative, and their laughter is often heard - both with and without reason. Speech slurs a little after marijuana, the tongue barely moves in the mouth. The addict’s movements change: due to impaired perception of the size of objects, a lack of coordination and a staggering gait appear.

Sometimes it is difficult to tell from the eyes or behavior of a young person whether he has smoked cannabis. Pay attention to another sign that allows you to suspect the use of marijuana: it is a sweetish smell that resembles burnt grass. It saturates the smoker's hair, his clothing - you can't confuse it with anything.

How to determine an overdose

With regular use of marijuana, a person develops tolerance to the main active ingredient in cannabis - tetrahydrocannabinol. Smoking a regular dose of weed no longer gives the expected effect, which leads to the desire to increase the amount of the drug, since physical dependence has already developed. As a result, the risk of such a dangerous consequence as an overdose of marijuana significantly increases. Its symptoms can develop either very quickly - within a few minutes, or be distant - appearing 1-2 hours after smoking weed:

  • Tremors of the limbs, convulsions, and muscle cramps appear.
  • The pupils dilate and there is no reaction to light.
  • There is redness of the face, dry mucous membranes.
  • Blood pressure rises and heart rate increases significantly.
  • Neurological disorders develop: speech is extremely inhibited, difficult, movements are sweeping.
  • Sometimes depression of consciousness (stupor) is observed.

With severe development, mental disorders may appear. The smoker becomes delirious, has hallucinations, and may show signs of disorientation in time. He is characterized by restlessness, increased anxiety, suspicion, and fear. Under the influence of a state of panic, he may try to commit suicide; his actions become inadequate.

If a smoker is not given timely help, symptoms of a weed overdose can last for several hours, and in severe cases, up to 2-3 days. If such situations are repeated regularly, it causes serious harm to the body.

It is impossible to die from an overdose of marijuana; this would require smoking several tens of thousands of doses of cannabis at once. But the risk of losing your life due to heart pathologies increases significantly. In addition, mental disorder during drug intoxication can also lead to death: committing suicide under the influence of marijuana is not uncommon.

Signs of long-term use

Long-term use of cannabis derivatives has a negative effect on the entire body. In the process of smoking weed, a large amount of harmful substances enter the human respiratory system - tars, combustion products, plant microfibers. As a result, a heavy marijuana smoker is characterized by problems with the bronchi and lungs (chronic bronchitis), and there is a danger of developing pulmonary emphysema.

Harmful combustion products of cannabis regularly enter the bloodstream. In combination with diseases of the respiratory system, this provokes hypoxia - oxygen starvation, which primarily affects the activity of the brain. Dependence on weed leads to memory impairment, slow thinking, and even dullness and lethargy. It becomes more difficult for a marijuana smoker to perceive new knowledge - this is reflected in studies and work.

Long-term marijuana use affects the cardiovascular system. Drug addicts experience constant tachycardia, blood pressure surges, and may complain of heart pain. People who have been dabbling in weed for many years experience a complex of specific symptoms (amotivational syndrome). It is characterized by:

  • Frequent mood swings: causeless aggression and physical activity are suddenly replaced by an attack of love for others and a state of relaxation.
  • Weakening interest in life: a chronic smoker becomes apathetic, he is not interested in the problems of his family, and is not interested in his own future.
  • Indifference to appearance - a person rarely washes, does not pay attention to the condition of his clothes. He emits a suffocating smell of sweat mixed with the “aroma” of weed.

You can tell if a man or woman is addicted to drugs by their speech. For someone who abuses marijuana, it becomes either fast and slurred, or slow. Periodic panic attacks occur for no reason, followed by periods of relaxation. The psyche of a marijuana smoker undergoes serious destructive changes.

The presence of marijuana in the body is easily determined using a blood or urine test. With regular use of cannabis, its traces remain in the body for 1–3 months. Therefore, a simple drug test will make sure that a person smokes marijuana.

The body's reaction to marijuana use

Smoking marijuana can affect both the physical and mental state of a person. Signs of drug use are very varied. Physical manifestations include:

  • red whites of the eyes;
  • nasal congestion;
  • dry mouth;
  • change in tongue color:
  • swelling of the uvula of the palate;
  • increased blood pressure;
  • loss of coordination of movements;
  • deterioration of the sense of balance;
  • great desire to eat;
  • cardiopalmus;
  • speech problems, inability to formulate sentences clearly and clearly;
  • fast metabolism.

Among the most pronounced mental symptoms and abnormalities are:

  1. Forgetfulness.
  2. Hallucinations and visions.
  3. Increased emotionality (positive - joy, happiness and negative - aggression, anger).
  4. Inappropriate behavior.
  5. Disruption of brain cell activity.
  6. Panic attacks.
  7. Ridiculous behavior.
  8. Lethargy.
  9. Uncontrolled love for other people.

Signs of weed use

Changes in the behavior of a person who has recently smoked weed are immediately noticeable:

  • Laughter for no reason;
  • General relaxation;
  • Sudden changes in mood;
  • Excessive talkativeness;
  • A complete feeling of carelessness;
  • Pupil enlargement;
  • Redness of the face or lips;
  • Desire to move actively;
  • The smoker will repeat the emotions of those around him, increasing them a hundredfold. For example, if there is laughter in his environment, then he will burst into the loudest laughter, and if someone is sad, then he will literally start crying and rolling on the floor in hysterics;
  • A person makes decisions quickly and without hesitation, without considering the consequences;
  • A cheerful mood can suddenly and abruptly turn into a storm of aggression;
  • If a person has smoked a large dose, then he can completely immerse himself in himself, his pupils will narrow, he will behave detached and detached from the company;
  • Persecution mania;
  • Paranoia;
  • Moody and tearfulness.

Consequences of eating grass

Cannabis has a very strong effect on the nervous system. The drug addict's brain activity and central nervous system suffer. He is greatly degrading in his development. Inhalation of harmful smoke causes diseases of the respiratory system and affects cardiac activity. In pursuit of a new dose of drug, a person can commit criminal offenses.

What is the way out of this situation? You need to talk with the drug addict about the causes of addiction and offer help, which consists of placing him in a specialized institution. Treatment in such institutions can be anonymous.

Many parents worry about their children. Most people who have previously used marijuana tried it in their teens or college years. Talk to your child even if there are no obvious symptoms. And if you notice signs of marijuana use at all or have suspicions, then act immediately.

  • Grass, grass;
  • Anasha, Khanka, Hashish;
  • Jamb;
  • Masha;
  • Maria Ivanovna;
  • Straw;
  • Plan;
  • Smoke;
  • Greens or Green Uncle;
  • Piece;
  • Warmer;
  • Parsley;
  • Khimka;
  • Dagga;
  • Jah;
  • Dill;
  • Dope;
  • Dung;
  • Hydroponics.

This list requires clarification and addition. For example, “hashish” should be understood as a derivative of hemp. The drug is created on the basis of the milky sap of the plant. You can also find the following names: hash, sweat, khanka, geifa. Its impact is much stronger, about 6 times.

“Cannabis” is also marijuana, but the drug is made from Indian hemp. As you can see, the drug has many names, but this does not change its essence. The use of marijuana leads to a distortion of reality, in other words, it is a hallucinogen. THC - tetrahydrocannabinol - provokes this. The content of the substance may vary, it all depends on the batch of hemp.

  • Marijuana use reduces concentration levels. Changes in sensory perception may occur.
  • The person becomes less active and problems with communication arise.
  • Disorientation in space may occur, and panic attacks may occur.
  • Regular use over several months leads to the development of abstinence; we have already described its painful manifestations.
  • With constant intoxication, marijuana has a destructive effect on the human reproductive system. Men lose testosterone, which is quite clearly expressed in the appearance of weed smokers. Women experience serious disturbances in the menstrual cycle.
  • It is obvious that smoking weed, just like smoking tobacco, will affect the respiratory system, including the development of cancer.

Signs of cannabinoid use reflect an excited state of the autonomic nervous system. Therefore, the following manifestations are typical:

  • dilation of the pupils (mydriasis) with no constriction to a light stimulus
  • redness of the whites of the eyes
  • increased sweating
  • dry mouth
  • hoarseness of voice
  • hand trembling
  • poor coordination of movements
  • rapid pulse (up to 100–120 per minute)
  • hypertension

The clinic indicates the approach of a collaptoid state, when there is a drop in vascular tone and a sharp decrease in blood pressure.

The patient may remain without dynamics for several hours. In the absence of help, consciousness slows down and the brain plunges into a coma.

In some people, instead of collapse, a disturbance of consciousness occurs in the form of acute psychosis, increased agitation, and talkativeness. Among the vivid hallucinations, fear of death, persecution mania, and jealousy predominate. As a result, deep sleep occurs.

Cannabis preparations are

drugs

, therefore, they necessarily lead to obvious changes in a person’s consciousness and behavior, thanks to which one can easily recognize whether he has used a drug. Smoking marijuana or hashish results in a carefree, euphoric state that can manifest itself in different ways for people. For some it is an uncontrollable cheerful mood, excessive talkativeness, lack of coordination, while for others it is aggression and incorrect perception of the actions of others.

Depending on the dose taken, different phenomena may also be observed. So, if the dose of the drug was small, then the person is relaxed and his senses of perception of sounds, colors, and light are heightened, since after smoking cannabis preparations there is a significant dilation of the pupils. When smoking a large amount of a drug, you may experience lethargy, impaired spatial perception, and surrounding objects may appear much larger or smaller than they actually are. Hallucinations appear, the person is overcome by fear and panic.

Consequences of using cannabis and other smokable drugs

Despite the fact that many people consider marijuana to be “harmless” and you can often hear the phrase that someone “indulges in weed,” the consequences of such indulging are very sad. Like any drug, cannabis preparations lead to the formation of physical and psychological dependence and destroy health.

At the same time, at a certain moment, a person who smokes weed may realize that it no longer brings him any satisfaction, but the habit is so strong that he is no longer able to give it up. This leads to the use of alcohol in conjunction with the drug or the desire to try more serious means to restore the state of euphoria.

Smoking drugs has a direct impact on health: memory is impaired, mental abilities are reduced, the risk of bronchitis and other diseases, including lung cancer, is exacerbated, hallucinations and paranoid disorders may occur, the menstrual cycle is disrupted in women, sperm formation in men, and Adolescents experience delayed puberty and development.

Since cannabis-based drugs have a direct effect on a person’s consciousness, psychological manifestations should also be noted: smoking drug addicts fall into depression, they are overtaken by a feeling of isolation and loneliness, they are disappointed in everything and cannot sort out their own thoughts.

Based on the foregoing, the impact of cannabis-based drugs and the consequences for humans from their use cannot be underestimated. Any drug, whether plant or

synthetic

origin, certainly leads to sad results, inevitably pushing a person onto the path of degradation. To prevent this from happening to you and your loved ones, especially children, treat this issue with due attention. Try to find positive moments in your life without additional doping and explain to your children in time that there are no “weak” drugs, and they are all equally harmful and promise certain death.

Recognizing a cannabis addict is not that difficult. The most common signs of marijuana use are:

  • Mood swings, sudden changes in emotional background;
  • Redness of the eyes;
  • A feeling of relaxation, bouts of laughter, or vice versa - anxiety, obsessive states, paranoia;
  • In some cases, hallucinations appear;
  • Panic attacks;
  • Increased appetite - a person intoxicated by marijuana eats any food he finds;
  • Decreased attention.

People who have had to deal with those who depend on marijuana in their lives say that after a long period of smoking, drug addicts literally “melt their brains.”

Narcologists describe among the consequences of long-term smoking of marijuana a decrease in brain activity, absent-mindedness, apathy, indifference and lack of interest in everything that happens around.

In order to lift his mood, the drug addict needs to increase the dose.

In such a situation, we can already talk about poisoning - another negative phenomenon that is fraught with smoking marijuana.

Attributes and slang of drug addicts

If you suspect that your child may be smoking weed or smoking mixtures, you need to carefully inspect his room or apartment. The following findings will confirm these fears:

  • A plastic bottle with a hole at the base, it may be a little smokey;
  • Various twists and cellophane or foil;
  • Cigarettes and cigarettes, provided that the child smokes only cigarettes or does not smoke at all;
  • Matchboxes with the remains of unknown mixtures;
  • Plastic tubes or hoses.

Speaking about slang, it is difficult to single out specific words, since current expressions are constantly updated, drug addicts come up with other names for drugs, joint recreation and smoking attributes. We will give an approximate list of words that, hearing which in a child’s conversation on the phone or reading which in correspondence, you can confirm fears about his addiction to grass:

  • Boshka – dried tops of hemp plants;
  • Bulbik, bulbulator - a device made from a plastic bottle for smoking hashish or marijuana;
  • Varenka – milk in which hemp was boiled;
  • Blow up – smoke weed through a bulbulator;
  • Hash, hashish - hashish;
  • Finish off, smoke, dotsl - finish smoking;
  • A joint is marijuana wrapped in tissue paper.

First aid for marijuana overdose

Cannabis poisoning does not require special treatment and goes away on its own without any visible negative consequences. However, sometimes an overdose of marijuana requires rapid sobering up and specialized medical care - reducing the level of cannabinoids in the blood. In such cases you need:

  1. Call an ambulance, which should be warned that marijuana poisoning has occurred.
  2. Ensure constant communication and a calm environment.
  3. If possible, turn on relaxing music.
  4. Ventilate the room.
  5. If you have a fever, you can apply a cold towel or ice to your forehead.
  6. In case of overdose from smoking, give hot, strong, sweet tea. In case of poisoning from eating dishes with marijuana, do a gastric lavage and give an available sorbent.
  7. If you lose consciousness, shake and rub your ears. If it was not possible to restore consciousness, place it on your side (face to the side and down) and make sure that your tongue does not sink.

What are the dangers of weed addiction?

Smoking weed has a detrimental effect on the functioning of the nervous system and brain. In addition, there is a danger that, not receiving pleasure from smoking weed, a person will begin to use harder types of drugs, putting his life in even greater danger.

Among the main consequences that can be caused by weed addiction are:

  • Decreased mental abilities;
  • Damage to the nervous system;
  • Damage to the cerebral cortex;
  • Problems with the lungs and respiratory system;
  • Problems with gums and teeth;
  • Sudden change of mood;
  • Personality change;
  • Inhibition in the perception of information and speech.

However, the most terrible consequence may be the death of an addict as a result of an overdose, switching to harder drugs, or an accident (being in euphoria, an addict can cause a fire or injure himself).

Side effects

Hashish affects the body almost immediately and its negative effects last for quite a long time, since its components are difficult to remove. They linger in:

  • Blood – up to 12-24 hours.
  • Urine – up to three weeks, depending on the dosage used and the amount of cannabinols in the drug.
  • Hair – up to three or more months.

Side effects that appear immediately after smoking include:

  1. Drowsiness.
  2. Strong feeling of fear.
  3. Depression.
  4. Uncoordinated movements.
  5. Slow reaction.
  6. Excitement.
  7. Incorrect perception of reality.
  8. Rapid heartbeat, up to a heart attack.

Also, some side effects may appear much later:

  • weakened immune system;
  • exposure to common illnesses;
  • slow growth;
  • decreased sexual potency;
  • poor assimilation of the information received;
  • constant change of mood;
  • drowsiness;
  • apathy;
  • destruction of brain and lung tissue;
  • decrease in the amount of male sex hormones;
  • inability to be aware of what is happening around.

Spice is a fast road to degradation and death

Today, spice poses a huge danger, since several cases of death have already been recorded immediately after smoking the mixture. Legislation is trying to stop their distribution, but any schoolchild can buy them online. The drug itself is a smoking mixture with a questionable composition.

A colossal blow to health is dealt already with the first dose smoked to the central nervous system and brain. Subsequent abuse of smoking mixtures can result in liver problems, poisoning, and disruption of the reproductive and excretory systems. If a person does not die from an overdose, then he risks remaining infertile.

The worst option is death, which can happen either due to an overdose or due to the dubious composition of the smoking mixture.

Impact on men

In addition to the enormous harm of anasha on the cardiovascular system, brain and lungs, the drug negatively affects sexual function, primarily in men. This manifests itself in the following deviations and violations:

  1. Decreased testosterone levels and potency.
  2. A decrease in the number and motility of sperm, and therefore inhibition of reproductive function.
  3. Deterioration of erection due to vasoconstriction and poor circulation in the genitals.
  4. A decrease in the density and size of the testicles, which can turn a man into an asexual being.

What does a Spice overdose feel like?

Complete dependence on spice occurs after smoking one small dose. An overdose may be accompanied by visual and auditory hallucinations. After this, the nervous system is activated, which makes the addict feel the proximity of death, panic, and a sense of persecution. All this can last up to five hours, after which the drug addict will feel a complete lack of strength and apathy.

If the dose is significantly exceeded, symptoms such as:

  • Cardiopalmus;
  • Dizziness;
  • Loss of balance and problems with coordination of movements;
  • Partial or complete loss of control over one’s actions;
  • A sharp rise in blood pressure;
  • Foaming at the mouth;
  • Nausea;
  • Repeated vomiting;
  • Frequent and erratic breathing rhythm;
  • Fainting.

Symptoms of overdose should not be ignored as it can be fatal. Everything will not go away on its own, so the drug addict needs to provide first aid. It is urgent to call an emergency psychiatric team and ensure that nothing interferes with the drug addict’s normal breathing. He needs to be placed on his side so that he does not choke on his own vomit.

If the overdose is severe and the drug addict behaves aggressively, then you need to immobilize him with improvised means. But it is worth remembering that nothing should interfere with normal breathing.

How to speed up detoxification?

Is it possible to speed up detoxification from marijuana? Of course, there are ways that help remove it from the body faster, but you won’t be able to do this right away. Weed detoxification takes several days or weeks, even if done in a clinic by specialists. And this is the fastest and most effective method.

If you use the services of a narcologist at home or in a clinic for detoxification, the process will involve placing IVs based on saline solution, including glucose, B vitamins, as well as other drugs that restore body functions.

In the case of self-treatment with home remedies, you can also carry out detoxification, but it will be very easy - here it is appropriate to say that you are only speeding up the natural detoxification process.

  • You need to drink plenty of regular drinking water.
  • Increased urine excretion speeds up the detoxification process - use natural diuretics. For example, green tea, special herbal diuretics.
  • Increased sweating also activates the process of natural detox, so active sports and a bath with a sauna will be useful. There are different opinions regarding the frequency of visits to the bathhouse; some doctors advise doing this a couple of times a week, but you can find advice on daily visits. It is worth remembering that the desire to remove the drug should not harm the body, so the regime should be comfortable for it.
  • It is necessary to adhere to a diet that normalizes the acid-base balance of the body. Fruits, berries and vegetables are welcome.
  • At the same time, you do not need to eat fatty foods: fried foods, confectionery, bread should be consumed in moderation. It is better to exclude soda and coffee from your diet during detoxification.

With these simple home remedies, you can speed up the process of removing marijuana from your body and cleanse it within a week to a month. Home remedies can be a good addition to the treatment course in the clinic and improve the health of the body.

What to do if your father is abusive

What future parents take into their bodies can directly affect the fetus. This applies to foods, drinks, and medications.

Taking drugs has the most negative impact on the human body. Even with infrequent smoking, cannabinoids will do their job.

If a young couple decides to become parents, and the man smokes marijuana, this will in any case affect the life of the unborn child. The consequences may not appear immediately, but they will definitely make themselves felt.

What can a child expect if even one of the parents takes drugs:

  1. Mental deviation.
  2. Deviations in physical development.
  3. Learning disability.
  4. Mental disorders of various types.
  5. Detachment and inability to communicate with people.

Parents' passion for illegal means and the desire to make their life more fun and varied can cause a difficult life for the child. Those who like to smoke a joint need to think about whether a couple of hours of mild euphoria are worth serious disorders in the development of the baby.

A few words about marijuana and cannabinoids

There is no clear opinion about the origin of the name marijuana, but this definition usually refers to a psychoactive substance obtained from the Cannabis plant. It is thanks to the botanical name of the plant, which has 3 species (Sativa, Indica, Ruderalis), that its official name is cannabis, and the active substances produced by hemp are cannabinoids. The most well-known and effective cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol, is found in large quantities in the first two species, and Cannabis ruderalis contains the smallest amount.

Marijuana is an integral part of many Asian cultures, traditions and meditations. For example, there are three varieties of cannabis used in India:

  • bhang, the cheapest drug, obtained from stems, leaves and seeds and having the least potency;
  • ganja, produced from the inflorescences of cultivated female plants;
  • Sharas, known as hashish, is prepared by pressing pollen crystals and has a very powerful effect.

In most countries of the world, marijuana is recognized as a narcotic substance, and smoking hemp is punishable by law.

Identified complications of drug use for men

According to statistics, those who like to smoke a joint are mainly the male half of humanity. However, not many of them think about the fact that at first glance, smoking a so-called “soft drug” can cause serious problems in men’s health.

First of all, we are talking about a violation of potency. If marijuana is smoked for a long time, then cannabinoids cause a decrease in testosterone, and, accordingly, a decrease in potency. Also, long-term smoking of marijuana can cause temporary or complete infertility.

The most specific pathology that can occur in a man when constantly smoking drugs is gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is the appearance of female breasts - the main problem for men.

The threat of getting such serious consequences from smoking is very high. Whether a short “high” is worth the loss of health and the appearance of pathologies, everyone decides for himself.
