Directions for use and dosage for hangovers and alcohol intoxication

Phosphalugel can be taken to prevent hangovers and alcohol poisoning.

To prevent a hangover, Phosphalugel should be drunk 1-2 packets according to the following scheme:

an hour to half an hour before drinking alcohol;
during a feast;
after drinking alcohol, at night.

It is recommended to drink Phosphalugel for alcohol poisoning, including those caused by the use of alcohol-containing medications, in the following dosages:

How to take medicine correctly

Adverse reactions

Taking Phosphalugel during a hangover can cause stool retention. Constipation is especially common in older people. In this case, it is recommended to increase the amount of fluid consumed.

Possible side effects

Despite the fact that Phosphalugel was created to help with alcohol intoxication, its use can provoke a number of side effects:

feeling of nausea and vomiting;
taste sensations change;
constipation occurs (this side effect most often develops in older people and those who suffer from alcoholism).

If Phosphalugel is used for longer than the prescribed two days, the following side effects cannot be ruled out:

the amount of phosphorus in the blood decreases, which provokes the formation of hypophosphatemia;

Instead of Phosphalugel, you can take other antacids for a hangover:

Almagel. It is produced in the form of a suspension, which contains algeldrate and magnesium hydroxide as medicinal components. Almagel taken with a hangover can cause stool retention, nausea, vomiting, taste distortion, stomach cramps, changes in mood and mental activity, allergies, increased magnesium levels in the blood, and osteomalacia. If you have a hangover, it is recommended to drink 5-10 ml of antacid three to four times a day. Children over 10 years old with alcohol intoxication are prescribed to drink Almagel at half the dose for adults. From 15 years of age, the dosage of the medicine corresponds to the dose for adults.
