- Products containing phenobarbital
- Drugs containing codeine
- Antibiotics
Driving under the influence of drugs is punishable by law very strictly. In this case, the motorist risks losing his license for a long time. To find out whether a person has used illegal drugs, a chemical-toxicological study is carried out. However, not only substances taken for intoxication can give a positive result. A similar effect sometimes appears after treatment with conventional drugs that are sold in pharmacies. What medications should drivers be wary of first?
What drugs can you buy at a pharmacy?
Moreover, in the 80s, pills that caused hallucinations were sold in pharmacies without prescriptions.
Pharmacy drugs without prescriptions have given rise to a wave of drug addiction that the government still cannot cope with. However, the struggle is ongoing. Today, it is not so easy to buy narcotic tablets at a pharmacy. Over-the-counter pills for euphoria (“high”) are sold strictly with a doctor’s prescription; they cannot be found over the counter. Now it is almost impossible to buy narcotic drugs without a prescription at a pharmacy, since by 2012 most of them were included in the prohibited lists. Therefore, these days, narcotic pills without a prescription can only be purchased in pharmacies that do not comply with the law, as well as on the Internet. Using a prescription, people who have been prescribed a particular drug sell it at exorbitant prices on the Internet. Naturally, such tricks are also illegal and carry criminal liability on a par with the distribution of drugs.
“Pills for drug addicts” - what are pharmaceutical drugs?
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 40% of drug addicts are young people. Some people tried pills with a euphoric effect just for fun, while others purposefully use drug pills on a regular basis. For more than 40 years in our country, pharmacies have been a source of cheap drugs. By 2020, the number of substance abusers and pharmacy drug addicts has noticeably decreased, but the problem still remains relevant. How do addicted people get the pharmaceutical high? What kind of tablets are “rod” (slang for “pin”)? What pills can you use to “get stoned” (“get stoned”)? What pills can you get (“get”) a high from?
Urinary tract infections
The effect of ibuprofen is also deceptive for urinary tract infections. It would seem that with severe pain associated with these diseases, this drug will cope better than ever, but nevertheless, it, used in conjunction with antibiotics, only reduces the effectiveness of their action, which is why the disease can last longer on average by 2-3 days. In this case, the price for reducing pain is its increased duration, which does not always seem like the best option.
Narcotic drugs
Narcotic drugs (pharmacy drugs) are drugs that can be purchased at a pharmacy, in some cases without a doctor's prescription. “Legal” drug-containing tablets can be purchased without a prescription if in fact they do not give a narcotic effect in case of an overdose; these are the substances and preparations that are used as precursors (raw materials) for the manufacture of dangerous, often intravenous, injections.
Pharmacy drug addicts have always been keenly interested in: what pills cause hallucinations without prescriptions? That is why a huge number of drugs were studied and prohibited from free sale. However, “legal” pharmaceutical drugs do exist in Russia. As an example, eye drops, which are indispensable in ophthalmology. They cost pennies, which is what aroused interest in them from drug addicts. As a result, eye drops began to be used as euphoric drugs and injected into a vein, diluting the more expensive drug. It is difficult to ban such drugs.
However, legal narcotic substances in Russia, which are sold in pharmacies, cause addiction even when used for therapeutic purposes, if the doctor’s recommendations are not followed. If you exceed the permissible dose of medical drugs containing drugs, they cause side effects. This can result in severe intoxication, even death. Various pharmaceutical euphoretics have their own effects and have different effects on the human body.
What drugs are sold at the pharmacy?
- Opioid.
- Antihistamines.
- Painkillers.
- Antitussives.
- Code-cutting.
- Antidepressants.
- Tranquilizers.
- Anticonvulsants.
- Sleeping pills.
- Narcotic sedatives.
- Muscle relaxants.
- Eye drops.
- Stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin, Prozac, Reduxin, Fluoxetine).
Anticonvulsants help drug addicts reduce withdrawal symptoms, but severe dependence and polydrug addiction occur. Psychedelics are also sold in pharmacies; these are narcotic drugs that can cause irreversible mental disorders if used regularly. Fortunately, it is impossible to purchase psychotropic pills without a prescription.
Deaths from Xanax overdose
It is difficult to get a fatal overdose from alprazolam alone, but the thing is that it is often mixed with other, more potent substances: for example, opiates or alcohol. And such a “combo” can be very dangerous. This is often done in the West, and it is possible that the same fashion will come to Russia.
The most sensational case in recent times: the death of rapper Gustav Ara, better known as Lil Peep. At the peak of his popularity, at 22, he became heavily involved in drugs. Once, after mixing the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl with Xanax, his breathing stopped because alprazolam significantly enhances the depressant effects of other drugs on the respiratory system, such as opiates or alcohol.
It is reported that Lil Peep had previously used drugs and was addicted to cocaine and alprazolam; He regularly mentioned the topic of drugs in his texts and messages on social networks. In one Instagram post, Gustav declared himself a "productive drug addict" and called for abstinence from drugs.

What pharmacy drug addicts use - list of pharmacy drugs
All possible names of narcotic tablets and precursors are contained in the List of Prohibited Substances, which was approved in 2012 by the Russian government. The list of drug-containing pills is regularly updated and supplemented, as drug addicts regularly look for which pills can get them high. So, we will look further at which pills you can get euphoria from, but it is important to understand that any medicine turns into poison when overdosed.
What pills cause euphoria?
Many drugs that are necessary in medicine become deadly poison in the hands of addicts. In search of a cheap high and something that can replace drugs, people turn to pharmaceutical drugs. Like heroin or amphetamine, pharmaceutical drugs cause persistent physical and psychological dependence. It is impossible to stop using drugs that cause euphoria on your own. You need to go to a drug treatment clinic.
The drugs that can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription are very limited. Then what do drug addicts use and buy at the pharmacy? Unfortunately, not all pharmacy chains strictly follow the law. For the sake of profit and additional profit, pharmacists and pharmacists dispense pills containing drugs without prescriptions.
“First, just try to get some sleep”
If your goal is simply to relieve fatigue and get an “improved you,” then you should start by eliminating debilitating factors.
Olga Kokorina:
— Such factors include sitting at the computer until late at night, poor sleep, which does not allow recovery, irregular diet, etc. Healthy sleep, good hydration and nutritious foods throughout the day can make you more active without long hours of business fasting. Double-check whether you get enough calories during the day and how much water you drink. By correcting only these indicators, you can become a different person. It is also better to opt for natural adaptogens, which, together with a healthy lifestyle, will help you improve your performance and improve your well-being.
Another option is to engage in bodily practices that teach you to focus your attention.
Alexandra Melyakh:
— There are many techniques and exercises based on Eastern practices (for example, qigong, yoga). They give a person the feeling that he is in control of what happens to him, allow him to feel successful, and teach him to concentrate. In order to master these techniques, you need to be consistent and regularly monitor the effect. It's good to have a mentor to help you. Yes, it is more difficult than just taking a pill, and will require much more effort and time from you. But in any case, it’s better than hitting your body with a sledgehammer of stimulants every time.

Lyrica or Pregabalin
Lyrica is one of the most popular and widespread medicinal drugs in our country. It is an anticonvulsant and antiepileptic drug. Initially, it attracted heroin addicts precisely because of its basic properties. The drug was used to eliminate the main symptoms of withdrawal. However, people soon noticed that Lyrica gave a euphoric effect when taken in overdose. What pills do you take to get high? One of the brightest representatives of tablets that cause euphoria is this medicine based on pregabalin. The effects of Lyrica are similar to opioid drugs. The drug enhances the effect of narcotic substances and causes persistent addiction.
Information about the medicine
Ibuprofen is available in the form of regular and effervescent tablets, capsules, suspension, rectal suppositories, gel and ointment. The drug is produced by a number of domestic and foreign companies, so the composition of medications based on it may differ significantly.
Ibuprofen is a NSAID and, like all drugs in this group, stops the inflammatory process, relieves pain, and normalizes high body temperature. When used externally, it reduces morning stiffness in the joints and improves their mobility. The drug inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins. These substances support the inflammatory process in the body, causing pain and fever.
When taken orally, the medicine is almost completely absorbed from the digestive tract. Passing through the liver, it undergoes metabolism. The half-life can vary from 2 to 3 hours. Up to 80% of the dose taken is excreted through the kidneys, the rest - with bile.
Opioids
These are the most dangerous drugs. Analgesics and painkillers have different mechanisms of action and dosages. To obtain side effects, only 10 mg of morphine is enough.
Drugs containing drugs:
- Tramadol;
- Codterpin;
- Terpincode;
- Promedol;
- Omnopon.
Essentially, opioids are legal, centrally acting psychoactive substances. They activate the central nervous system and are used to reduce pain. Pharmacists know very well which drugs cause euphoria, so they are prohibited from selling such pills to drug addicts. They are also monitored in hospitals, where every tablet or ampoule of a narcotic drug is counted.
Antitussives
At the beginning of the 19th century, heroin was added to cough syrup, but 10 years later its properties were studied in more detail, which became the reason for the exclusion of this dangerous component from the composition of drugs. Today, no company in the world has the right to produce heroin. But why are cough syrups still dangerous?
A drug that gained widespread popularity in the 2000s was Glycodin. Young people used it in excessive dosages (5-10 times) to obtain a narcotic effect. The dangerous ingredient in cough syrups is dextromethorphan (DXM). The more syrup you drink, the stronger the effect, including the occurrence of hallucinations and loss of the sense of space and time. A person ceases to perceive himself and the world around him, his speech is illogical and incoherent. In a state of drug intoxication, the addict poses a danger to both himself and others. In case of an overdose, symptoms of intoxication occur (vomiting, nausea), as well as an apathetic and depressive state.
“In two weeks I made half a million”
On social networks you can find hundreds of groups dedicated to nutritional supplements and stimulants (most often their creators use phrases like “pushing the boundaries”, “drugs for life”, etc. to attract attention).
The most popular of them have more than 10 thousand subscribers. The creators and users of public sites post the results of their experiments with nootropics every day, analyze the effect obtained and answer questions from newcomers about side effects. For people looking for an instant boost, such groups most often replace a consultation with a doctor. There are also links to online stores where in a few clicks you can order not only legal medicines, but also drugs prohibited in Russia.
We contacted several users of one of the popular groups and asked them to tell us how long they had been taking stimulants and why. Many agreed to answer questions only on condition of anonymity.

The stories they tell are similar to each other and reminiscent of the plot of Neil Burger's film "Dark Areas". Imagine a loser named Eddie. Let's say he is an ordinary writer who sits down at his laptop every day, but cannot squeeze out a single line. This has been going on for several months now. “The main thing is not to leave the room, not to be distracted by anything,” Eddie says to himself, but within half an hour he finds himself in the bar. His girlfriend leaves him, and the owner of the rented apartment threatens to throw him out onto the street. And just when it seems things can’t get any worse, Eddie meets an old acquaintance. He invites him to try a stimulant pill - NZT. A friend explains: a person uses only 20% of his brain's capacity, but NZT will allow you to use all of it.
The writer hesitates, but still takes the pill - and now we have an “improved Eddie.” He notices details that others do not see, remembers everything he once read, heard, watched. He describes his condition as follows: “I wasn’t stoned, I wasn’t drunk. I was clean and knew what and how to do.” Eddie sits down at the computer and, without stopping, writes the first 40 pages of the book overnight. The entire novel takes him four days. In another three days he learns to play the piano and master foreign languages. In a few days he makes a fortune on the stock exchange. Now Eddie takes stimulants every day, gradually increasing the dose. And just when it seems that its possibilities are limitless, the side effects of NZT appear...
Everyone we spoke to described “Eddie symptoms”: loss of concentration, brain fog, poor memory, reluctance to do anything and inevitable problems at work (“If I read something, all the information passes me by,” “ I’m sick of sleepiness”, “I can’t concentrate”, “I’ve been stupid all day”). After taking the stimulant, everything changes - my mind becomes clear (“It was as if my eyes had opened”), my concentration improves (“I could go into a frenzy or, as they say, into a “flow” faster than before”). Many said that they felt an incredible surge of energy (“I wanted to do something all the time”), could complete a large project in a few hours (“I wanted to feel like a superhero from some American blockbuster for a while, be a kind of Captain America, and I succeeded for a while." At the same time, no one hid the fact that he selected the drugs on his own, relying on reviews in groups and “my own feelings.”
Ilya, has been taking stimulants for 4 years:
— I practice sprints - intensive work on a project for 8 hours. I used to keep myself in good shape with tea, coffee, sweets and energy drinks (caffeine + sugar). But after problems with weight appeared, I switched to nootropics. They became a catalyst for me. At the beginning of this year, I took phenotropil (a drug, a psychostimulant, belonging to the group of nootropic drugs - note 66.RU) for two weeks, and during this time I earned 500 thousand. I had concerns only before taking Cerebrolysin (a drug from pig brain, marketed by the manufacturer as a medicine, refers to nootropics, is used in the treatment of patients with various neurological diseases, such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, vascular dementia, including Alzheimer's disease - note 66.RU). There is a risk that due to unscrupulous production, an infection will penetrate your brain and you will turn into a vegetable. But I’m lucky in life, I was ready to take risks.
Sergei began taking stimulants to help him cope with his studies and quickly complete his boss’s tasks.
Sergey, has been taking stimulants for 3 years:
— I took a website building course. I sat in class in the evening, was really stupid all evening and couldn’t master the topic. Maybe I was tired at the end of the day, I don’t know. The next day I took three drops of Semax (a drug belonging to the class of regulatory peptides that has a nootropic, psychostimulating and neuroprotective effect - note 66.RU). About 20–25 minutes passed. I was driving in the car and thinking about how I would arrive at the office, take out a notebook and spend time delving into the material. As soon as I thought about it, the lecture flashed before my eyes in a second. In pieces, fragments... Still standing at the traffic light, I understood what she was talking about. It's that simple. I was amazed! Are they really drops?! Further more. I got to work. I was given the task of developing a layout for the site structure. Links of pages, linking... I took a marker and literally immediately sketched out a working diagram on the board. It seemed elementary to me. I gave a presentation to my boss, he realized that a simple solution had been found, and left me behind.
After completing the course, Sergei discovered that he could not remember what had recently seemed so simple to him: “All my brilliant thoughts left me.”
Sergey:
“Within two weeks, I completed the nootropic course and lived in peace until my boss came up to me and said: “Listen, remember, you came up with that scheme? Consult our web designer and let him get to work.” It came as a shock to me that I could not reproduce that scheme. I tried to remember what was on the board, but I couldn’t reconstruct the full picture from fragments of memory. It took me a while to write it down. A lot of time. I had to really push myself. The most interesting thing is that during the course of the drug I did not feel any superpowers. I was my “regular self.”
N-anticholinergics
Drugs in pills can have different effects. Common narcotic medications are Parkopan and Cyclodol. These drugs are often prescribed to older patients with Parkinson's, as well as to people with hand tremors. Pills, like drugs, are addictive. An overdose of Cyclodol leads to hallucinations, disruption of orientation in time and space, delirium, and psychomotor agitation. The effect of drugs in excess dosage can be compared to a psychotropic drug. In any case, an overdose of the drug has a number of side effects. This is intoxication, which leads to the inability to perform usual actions, psychosis, increased blood pressure, rash, nausea, vomiting, and panic attacks. With regular use, intelligence decreases, aggressiveness, irritability, nervousness, mental disorders, and diseases of the cardiovascular system occur.
Adverse reactions
Taking Ibuprofen can cause a number of unwanted reactions:
- nausea, refusal to eat, vomiting, gastrointestinal ulcer, gastrointestinal perforation, internal bleeding, loose stools, liver pathologies;
- headache, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, eye problems;
- blood picture disturbance;
- kidney pathologies;
- allergy;
- bronchospasm;
- aseptic meningitis.
Side effects of Ibuprofen, which is applied externally in the form of ointment and gel, may be as follows:
- allergy;
- redness of the skin;
- burning and tingling sensation.
Analeptics
Sulfocamphocaine is a drug with an analeptic effect, stimulates the respiratory centers, acts on the myocardium, enhances metabolism and increases vascular tone. Created to improve lung ventilation and increase bronchial secretion, and is also prescribed for heart failure and hypotension. Analeptics are used for drug intoxication and cause addiction quite quickly.
To weaken the toxic and enhance the narcotic effect, drug addicts mix Sulfocamphocaine with opiates. To obtain euphoria, the therapeutic dose is increased almost 20 times. Naturally, such doses lead to irreversible consequences in the body, affecting primarily the heart and blood vessels, causing a hypertensive crisis.
Nootropics
What other drugs in tablets are addictive and give drug addicts euphoria? Common drugs found in medications include nootropics. They are often used as part of droppers for withdrawal from binge drinking and are necessary for restoring and stimulating metabolism in the human brain, as well as improving nerve impulses. The drugs reduce anxiety, eliminate aggression, stress, improve memory and thinking, and increase performance.
They are also prescribed to people of retirement age, patients with TBI or after a stroke. Among the most famous medications in our country is Phenibut. In addition, Noobut, Cognifen and Mildronate have a nootropic effect. The drugs are used by people to enhance the effects of drugs, alcohol or sleeping pills. However, euphoria quite soon leads to overdose and intoxication, which has a detrimental effect on blood pressure and the liver.
Antiviral
Today, during the coronavirus pandemic, people are trying to purchase antiviral drugs. Medicines are bought in batches, and pharmacy chains do not have time to raise prices. However, you should know that these medications are also dangerous; you should not use them thoughtlessly and without a doctor’s prescription. The most common antiviral drug is Remantadine. Today it is already difficult to find it in a pharmacy, but many people have stocks of this medicine at home. Why is it dangerous?
The drug is prescribed to patients with influenza, as well as for prevention during an epidemic. In addition, the medicine helps fight tick-borne encephalitis. Like many other drugs, Remantadine is used to get a high in a dosage that is 10-15 times higher than the therapeutic one. Hallucinations, a feeling of lightness and euphoria occur. Overdose symptoms are typical: nausea, vomiting, panic attacks, weakness.
Symptoms of Ibuprofen poisoning
If the dosage of NSAIDs is exceeded, signs of intoxication occur:
- abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting (possible diarrhea from Ibuprofen);
- drop in blood pressure;
- tinnitus;
- dizziness;
- increased or decreased heart rate, arrhythmia;
- liver and kidney pathologies;
- headache, lethargy, drowsiness, depressed mood;
- decrease in blood pH;
- hemorrhagic skin rashes;
- convulsions;
- apnea;
- nystagmus;
- heart failure.
In children under 5 years of age, when intoxicated with Ibuprofen, convulsions, respiratory arrest, and coma are more often observed. Therefore, it is prohibited to give the drug to them without a doctor’s prescription. In children, signs of poisoning occur with a single dose of 400 mg or higher.
Even when applying gel and ointment to large areas of the body, symptoms of an Ibuprofen overdose may occur:
- abdominal pain;
- nausea and vomiting;
- headache;
- drowsiness.
Codeine-containing drugs
What drugs cause euphoria? The most common medications are codeine-based. These are both antitussive and painkillers. Among them are Terpinkod, Codelac, Codesan, Pentalgin-N and many others. They are not only used orally by drug addicts, but also become precursors for the manufacture of such dangerous drugs as desomorphine or “krokodil”. This is an explosive mixture that experienced drug addicts prepare in clandestine conditions on their own and inject intravenously. These are very cheap pharmaceutical drugs that lead to tissue necrosis and, subsequently, to amputation of limbs. A codeine addict is unlikely to live longer than three years.
Since heroin is a fairly expensive drug, addicts began to resort to finding and using cheaper raw materials. Moreover, until 2012, codeine-containing drugs could be easily found in the public domain. Despite the advent of modern smoking mixtures and powders, intravenous use of desomorphine still exists and takes the lives of thousands of people every year.
