The Linux analogue is cheap. Analogue of the drug "Linex": reviews from doctors

I have been familiar with the drug “Linex” for a very long time. It appeared in pharmacies when there were no other similar competing drugs on the pharmaceutical market. "Linex" is usually prescribed for the treatment of dysbiosis. But my general practitioner always prescribed it to me after taking antibiotics, since the intestinal microflora is disturbed and needs to be restored. But it is important not to forget that Linex is not used together with an antibiotic. It makes sense to use it only after a course of antibiotics.

The composition, under the mysterious name “lebenin,” contains three lactic acid bacteria that can be obtained from food. Lactobacilli are found in dairy products, bifidobacteria are found in fermented milk products. But enterococci are generally harmful in large quantities; I don’t understand why you should drink them if they are produced independently by the intestines.

The average price for 7 Linex capsules today is 370 rubles. It's very, very expensive. That is, the price for one capsule is 53 rubles. Manufacturer: Slovenia.

I found one Linex capsule in the medicine cabinet at home and decided to open it, it had expired anyway. By the way, the shelf life of the drug is only two years.

Inside was a white powder very similar to flour. It creates a warming sensation on the fingers. And the taste is also flour with a sourness - a tingling sensation on the tongue. Nothing special. In my opinion, it is a common but quite safe drug.

I used to buy Linex very often, especially after suffering from infectious diseases. Yes, it has always been expensive, but of high quality. The body always accepted it well and there was never any discomfort after it. Today I can draw the following conclusion: 1. Many other similar drugs have appeared to treat dysbiosis and improve intestinal microflora. They just cost less. And they are not inferior in quality. I would especially pay attention to this drug: https://otzovik.com/review_2902070.html 2. The use of Linex capsules can be replaced by the use of such products as: milk, kefir, cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt and much more. The main thing is that the products are natural and not substitutes. Otherwise there will be no point. By the way, many products contain additional bio-additives, so it’s worth paying attention to them. 3. In my opinion, “Linex” will be relevant to those people who cannot tolerate dairy products and never eat them. Then it’s easier for them to take a course of capsules and forget about intestinal health problems. And “Linex” is suitable for those people who are willing to pay a lot of money for this “bio-additive”. I will not recommend this drug, as I think it is expensive.

Advantages of Linex over similar drugs

Linex consists of live lactic acid bacteria - integral components of the natural microflora of the human intestine. The main advantages of the drug include:

  1. Resistance to chemotherapy and antibacterial drugs (penicillins, macrolides, aminoglycosides, rifampicin).
  2. All release forms consist of live lyophilized bacteria that remain viable even at room temperature.
  3. Convenient to store: a temperature regime of no more than 25 degrees is required. The drug must be stored in the refrigerator; you can take it with you to work or on trips. This makes it possible to use Linex for traveler's diarrhea.
  4. The correct combination of species, strains and quantitative ratio of beneficial microorganisms in Linex reduces inflammatory processes in the intestines. An immunomodulatory effect and a decrease in the allergic reactivity of the immune system are observed.

    Picture 1

The lyophilization process, which is used in the production of Linex, also has advantages: preserving the microstructure, viability, biological activity of cells, increasing the stability of the product.

Indications for use, composition, dosage

The drug is prescribed to adults, children, including infants. It is used to prevent dysbacteriosis and treat diseases. The main active ingredient is lebenin powder, consisting of lacto and bifidobacteria; potato starch, dextrin, lactose, and magnesium stearate are added as auxiliary components. The components are crushed to a powdery state and placed in an opaque capsule made of gelatin.

The dose depends on the patient's age.

  • Children under 2 years of age take 1 capsule of Linex for children 3 times a day;
  • If the child is over 2 years old, but under 12 years old, then he will need 1-2 capsules three times a day;
  • Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age are prescribed 2-3 capsules three times a day.

The following drugs have a similar effect:

The difference between a probiotic and a prebiotic

In case of dysbacteriosis, restoration of intestinal microflora is required. The doctor will prescribe probiotics or prebiotics. Probiotics contain bacteria found in normal intestinal microflora. It is unacceptable to use them constantly, as they displace their own strains.

This remedy is prescribed for a course of 7-10 days. After this, prebiotics will be required to stimulate the activity of your own microflora. They create an optimal acidity balance for beneficial microorganisms and an uncomfortable balance for pathogenic bacteria.

Comparison of Linux with similar dietary supplements

Linex differs from similar drugs in production technology, composition, and storage conditions. For a number of patients, the key argument is the cost of the drug. However, it is important to take into account the quality of the raw materials and the quality certificates provided by the manufacturer.

The cost of Linux in November 2020:

  1. Capsules (16 pcs.) – 300 rub.
  2. Capsules (32 pcs.) – 550 rub.
  3. Forte capsules (7 pcs.) – 340 rub.
  4. Forte capsules (14 pcs.) – 530 rub.
  5. Children's sachet (20 pcs.) – 660 rub.
  6. Children's drops (8 ml) – 600 rub.

Linex Forte consists of 2 types of lyophilized bacteria: lacto- and bifidobacteria. Enterobacteriaceae, present in regular Linex, are not included in Linex Forte. Both drugs belong to the group of eubiotics.

Linex Forte also contains inulin and oligofructose - components with a prebiotic effect. The described substances increase the quantitative content of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli several times throughout the day.

The drugs differ in the composition of the auxiliary components, as well as in the method of application. Regular Linex is recommended to use 2 capsules, and Forte - 1. The frequency of administration is identical: three times a day. The latter costs more.

Hilak Forte

Drops for oral administration based on a substrate of waste products of microorganisms. They help cope with diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, intestinal intoxication, and chronic gastrointestinal diseases. Hilak can be replaced by Linex when treating patients who are indicated for radiotherapy.

It is important to understand which is better: Acipol or Linex. Acipol is an inexpensive Russian-made substitute based on kefir grains and live acidophilus bacteria. Recommended for patients with dysbiosis, intestinal infections, colitis, and gastrointestinal disorders.

Comparative characteristics show that the drugs differ in composition, the spectrum of action of Linex is wider. Acipol is better suited as a means of prevention, Linex - in the course of complex treatment of disorders. The advantage of Acipol is the cost, the disadvantage is only 1 dosage form.

Bifiform

Bifiform is a Danish alternative, which consists of enterococci, lacto- and bifidobacteria. Indicated for patients with gastroenteritis, diarrhea, chronic dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract.

Released in several dosage forms. Bifiorm and Linex are interchangeable products. Bifiform is a drug similar in composition; it additionally contains lactose and dextrose, which normalize intestinal microflora.

Bifiorm copes with rotavirus infections, dysbiosis of various origins, chronic pathologies, and exhibits antidiarrheal properties. The answer to the question of which is better than Linex or Bifiform can be given by a doctor, taking into account the clinical picture of the disorders and the characteristics of the patient’s body.

Maxilac is another replacement product, a modern combination of probiotics and prebiotics, called a synbiotic. Enriched with 9 cultures of optimally dosed bacteria and the prebiotic oligofructose. An auxiliary element of treatment against antibiotic therapy. Copes with functional intestinal disorders and strengthens the immune system.

Bifidumbacterin

A budget analogue of Linex based on bifidobacteria. Available in the form of capsules for oral administration, under the influence of active substances:

  • there is a positive effect on microflora;
  • the population of beneficial bacteria increases;
  • digestion is activated;
  • immunity is strengthened;
  • elimination of excess pathogenic microorganisms is observed.

Bifidumbacterin is recommended for adult patients with acute dysbiosis, infectious pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, allergies, and inflammation of the genitourinary system. Helps cope with constipation and functional intestinal disorders caused by stressful situations.

Unlike Linex, Enterol does not contain bacteria. The drug is filled with unicellular yeast fungi, which are absent in the intestinal microflora. Fungi from the genus Saccharomyces pass through the digestive tract and remain unchanged.

The drugs differ in their mechanism of action, but have similar indications for use.

Lactrofiltrum

Lactofiltrum is a Russian-made sorbent that normalizes intestinal microflora and has a beneficial effect on the immune system. Contains lactulose and lignin. Indicated for irritable bowel syndrome, dysbiosis, hepatitis, cirrhosis, allergic diseases.

Bactistatin

Domestic capsules based on a complex of biologically active substances:

  • metabolites with antibacterial properties: lysozymes, bacteriocins;
  • metabolites with enzymatic properties: hydrolytic enzymes;
  • immunoactive factors that increase the protective properties of the body;
  • prebiotic components: soy flour hydrolyzate;
  • natural sorbent: zeolite.

Indicated as a food additive, an additional source of vitamins, probiotics, and biologically active components. Used for dysbiosis, chronic pancreatitis, gastroduodenitis, irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia, high cholesterol, and intestinal infections. May cause allergic reactions.

Linex or Maxilac - which is better?

The drug is classified as symbiotic, which means that the addition of active substances to the composition helps beneficial microbacteria to actively multiply, quickly restoring the gastrointestinal flora and peristalsis.
Its only difference from Linex is that it cannot be given to children under three years of age. The drug shows good results if taken during trips to other climatic conditions, during cold viral seasons.

The course of treatment is a month. Maxilak is a very effective drug, but treatment will cost one and a half times more.

Indications for taking Maxilak:

  • functional intestinal disorders, including disorders such as belching, diarrhea, nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting, constipation, flatulence (bloating), abdominal pain (as an aid);
  • intestinal disorders that arise against the background of climate change, place of stay (for prevention purposes);
  • carrying out therapy with drugs that can cause a change in the qualitative/quantitative composition of the gastrointestinal microflora, as well as the period after their administration (as an adjuvant);
  • a period characterized by an increased susceptibility to infectious diseases.

Contraindicated only in case of personal intolerance to any of the components.

Maxilac is a dietary supplement that is taken with food. Linex is a complex drug. It is taken after meals with water.

The choice between Linex or Maxilac depends on the nature of the disease and the age of the patient, so only a doctor can give an accurate assessment of the effectiveness and advisability of taking a particular drug.

It is believed that Maxilac is effective in treating:

  • salmonellosis;
  • intestinal infections and viruses;
  • dysbacteriosis that arose after antibiotics.

And Linux is effective:

  • to normalize stool and digestive processes in infants;
  • after taking antibiotics in preschool children;
  • to eliminate intestinal colic in newborns.

How can you replace Linex: a list of inexpensive analogues

The principle of action of probiotics is the same - they replenish the intestines with beneficial microorganisms. But when looking for a cheaper option, you need to pay attention to several factors:

  1. Compound. Different products may contain different bacteria.
  2. Some medications are supplemented with other components. These ingredients do not affect therapy, but sometimes provoke allergic reactions.
  3. Foreign analogues sometimes do not help, since the living cultures present in them are not adapted for patients living in Eurasian countries.

Available in the form of capsules, solutions, powder. Intended for treatment of both adult patients and children.

Indications for use:

  • intestinal infections;
  • diarrhea;
  • lactose intolerance;
  • chronic gastrointestinal pathologies.

Prohibitions include individual reactions to components. Used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Has no side effects. Contains bifidobacteria. But unlike Linex, the composition also contains Streptococcus thermophilus TH4, vitamins B1 and B6.

Impact:

  1. Activation of the digestive tract.
  2. Improved metabolism.
  3. Strengthening immunity.
  4. Destruction of pathogens.

An overdose is accompanied by dizziness and allergic reactions.

The Russian drug is a cheaper analogue, marketed in capsule form. The package contains 10 or 30 pieces.

Prescribed for the following problems:

  • acute intestinal infections;
  • colitis;
  • dysbiosis.

Main components:

  1. Lactobacilli.
  2. Polysaccharides. They are a nutrient substrate for microorganisms.

In addition, there are additional substances such as iron oxide, gelatin, titanium dioxide. The presence of auxiliary ingredients sometimes causes negative reactions. Therefore, hypersensitivity to individual ingredients is a contraindication to the Linex analogue. It is undesirable to use if you have candidiasis.

Has a wide spectrum of action. With the help of Acipol, you can restore the microflora of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, nasal passages, pulmonary system, and vagina. Allowed for children from 3 months. It is not used for the treatment of newborns, as it provokes severe diarrhea.

Another cheap analogue, produced in capsules. It is used for almost the same pathologies, but there is a serious difference from Linex - this drug cannot be taken if the patient has a venous catheter installed.

The liquid concentrate goes on sale. Bottle volume 100 ml.

A domestic probiotic is used for therapy:

  • gastritis;
  • ulcerative formations of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • hepatitis;
  • colitis;
  • cholecystitis;
  • acute diarrhea;
  • genital infections.

Allowed for women carrying a child and breastfeeding. Contains lactobacilli. Therefore, a contraindication is intolerance to these microorganisms. Mild side effects such as an allergic reaction are sometimes observed.

The most common analogue of Linux. Sold in tablets, blisters of 20 pieces, in the form of powder and suppositories.

Indications for use repeat the list of the original, but are supplemented by such pathologies as herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhea. It is used as a prophylactic agent during preparation for labor. Prohibited in childhood, in the presence of candidiasis.

One blister contains 6 or 18 tablets, which affects the price. A similar effect is ensured by the presence of eubiotics and lactobacilli. Side effects have not been registered, but there are risks of allergies to additional components - sucrose and protein.

The instructions state the following:

  1. Metabolism stimulation.
  2. Pathogen suppression.
  3. Restoration of microflora.
  4. Normalization of the gastrointestinal tract.

Prescribed with caution to children.

One of the cheapest generics of Linex. Used in powder and solution form. Despite the low price, the analogue is quite effective and is indicated in complex therapy for the following problems:

  • dysfunction of the intestines, including disorders due to stress;
  • acute intoxication;
  • gastrointestinal infections;
  • rotavirus;
  • prolonged constipation;
  • colpitis;
  • Chronical bronchitis;
  • pneumonia;
  • vaginosis;
  • rickets.

Indications also include children's allergic diathesis. It is used for prevention when transferring a baby from breastfeeding to artificial formula. Recommended even for newborns.

Contains bifidobacteria Bifidum. Prescribe with caution to children under 3 years of age.

Lizalak, (Italy)

Linex analogue when taking antibiotics

It is inexpensive and recommended for various digestive disorders. Contains lactulose and laxatives. Hepatic coma and enteritis are added to the general indications of probiotics. Release forms: syrup and powder.

Reduces osmotic pressure in the large intestine, enhances peristalsis. It is used as a laxative, therefore it is prohibited in case of severe diarrhea.

This probiotic in the form of drops can also be a cheaper replacement for Linex. In pharmacies you can find bottles of 30 and 100 ml. Widely used to restore microflora after hormonal and antibacterial therapy.

It has practically no contraindications, except for hypersensitivity to additional ingredients - lactic acid and its salts. It is well tolerated by children, but treatment is possible only after consulting a pediatrician.

A drug similar to Linex is prescribed for intestinal disorders, chronic colitis or enterocolitis. It is often recommended as a prophylaxis against dysbiosis, in preparation for surgery and childbirth.

Destroys pathogens, restores metabolic processes.

Cheap Probiotic like Linex, contains lactobacilli. This drug is indicated for the following pathologies:

  • intestinal infections;
  • gastritis;
  • enterocolitis;
  • dysbacteriosis;
  • duodenitis;
  • ulcerative colitis.

It goes on sale in powder form and is used in the treatment of children. Contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to individual ingredients.

Another similarity to Linux, cheaper, but with advanced qualities. The composition contains ingredients that provide a prebiotic effect. This means that the cheaper analog delivers live bacteria to the body and stimulates the growth of those remaining in the intestines after the disease.

Capsules are bought in pharmacies. There are 10 pieces in a package.

Advantages:

  1. Store at room temperature. Therefore, Maxilak, unlike Linex, is taken on trips.
  2. The analog contains 9 live cultures and oligofructose as a nutrient medium.
  3. Some probiotics cannot be used due to dairy intolerance. But this cheaper medicine perfectly converts lactose into simple sugars.

Linex or Hilak – what to buy?

Bifidumbacterin is a good substitute for Linex, intended for the treatment of intestinal pathologies.

The drug is based on bifidobacteria and is sold in the form of capsules, powder, and solution for oral administration.

The bacteria that make up the medication have the following effects on the body:

  • stimulate digestive function;
  • normalize metabolism;
  • increase immunity;
  • kill pathogenic microflora.

Bifidumbacterin is a cheap but highly effective and frequently purchased drug. It is recommended for patients with the following pathological conditions:

  • dysbacteriosis;
  • constipation;
  • allergies caused by intestinal infections;
  • disruption of the digestive tract caused by stress;
  • pneumonia, chronic bronchitis;
  • inflammation of the genitourinary system;
  • disruption of the intestinal tract caused by infection;
  • intestinal disorders after taking antibiotics and hormonal drugs.

Also, a cheap Linex substitute is suitable for restoring intestinal function after radiation and chemotherapy, and for preventing and eliminating mastitis in breastfeeding women. The medication is often prescribed by pediatricians to young patients suffering from rickets, pneumonia, and purulent diseases.

The drug is not prescribed to patients with lactase deficiency. Pregnant women and children under 3 years of age should take the probiotic with extreme caution.

Hilak is a substitute for Linex, intended to restore the normal bacterial composition of the intestines, activate digestive function, and improve a person’s physical condition.

The medication is based on waste products of intestinal bacteria. Auxiliary components are lactic acid and its salts.

Hilak is sold in drip form and is intended to eliminate dysbiosis caused by taking antibiotics and hormonal agents. The drug is also used to treat:

  • acute infectious pathologies of the intestinal tract;
  • chronic form of colitis;
  • various disorders of the digestive system.

Children are allowed to take the drug, but only in consultation with a medical specialist. Hilak is well accepted by the body and has virtually no side effects. The only contraindication for use is sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Hilak, created by a German pharmaceutical company, stands just below the Slovenian Linex.

Analogues of Linex for infants and young children

There are several generations of drugs that normalize intestinal microflora:

  • 1st generation - these are monocomponent drugs that contain only 1 strain of bacteria - colibacterin, lactobacterin, bifidumbacterin
  • 2nd generation - self-eliminating antagonists - sporobacterin, biosporin, bactisubtil
  • 3rd generation - multicomponent drugs that include a combination of several strains of bacteria and additives - Linex, analogues Acipol, Bifiliz, Acylact, Bifiform, etc.
  • 4th generation - sorbed bifid-containing probiotics, these are live normal flora bacteria immobilized on a sorbent - Probifor, Bifidumbacterin Forte, Florin Forte.

Probiotics are also classified according to the type of bacteria they contain. Almost all probiotics are produced in Russia, with the exception of foreign analogues Linex, Enterol, Bifiform.

Self-eliminating antagonists are recommended for children with acute non-infectious diarrhea, as well as with mild forms of intestinal infections and subcompensated dysbacteriosis. The course of treatment should not exceed 5-7 days; in the future, probiotics from normal microflora should be added to therapy.

  • Flonivin BS, Baktisubtil - they contain spores of the bacillus B. cereus IP 5832, which are capable of exhibiting broad-spectrum antibacterial properties, providing antidiarrheal and antimicrobial effects. These spores are quite resistant to the effects of gastric juice, and they transform into vegetative forms in the intestine, restoring its microflora.
  • Sporobacterin and bactisporin contain Bacillus subtilis 3H, a live antagonistically active strain selected for its chromosomal resistance to the antibiotic rimphapicin.

Linex

Bifidumbacterin forte is actively used for ARVI, having a detoxifying effect, for various gastroenterological diseases, and for dysbacteriosis of varying severity. However, it is contraindicated in children with lactase deficiency, and is also not used for gastroenteritis caused by rotavirus infection.

Painkillers and antipyretics

If a person is in pain, he will not hesitate for a minute to buy what is offered to him at the pharmacy or prescribed by the doctor. If you are purchasing a painkiller for your first aid kit, here are some recommendations.

Solpadeine. This drug is available in tablets, capsules and soluble tablets. Today, Solpadeine contains only paracetamol and caffeine, although many knew it as a drug containing codeine, which caused a stronger analgesic effect compared to regular paracetamol.

Changes in the composition of this popular drug occurred after the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law banning the over-the-counter sale of painkillers and antitussives containing codeine. Now the drug Solpadeine, which is sold without a prescription, is an analogue of the most common paracetamol. Its only difference is the faster onset of action due to the soluble form of tablets.

Dysbacteriosis as a diagnosis

Dysbacteriosis as a diagnosis is absent in medical science. However, there is dysbiosis as a syndrome, and it is pointless to treat it without identifying the cause that provokes the condition: disease, pathology, or therapy with antibacterial drugs.

Accordingly, taking probiotic drugs should always be accompanied by an understanding of what caused the imbalance of the intestinal microflora, and what needs to be done so that the use of probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics and other microflora-improving components does not turn into lifelong maintenance therapy.

In a healthy body, the balance of intestinal microflora is a transistor phenomenon that goes away on its own within a few days, and it is not worth adjusting it unless clearly necessary: it is impossible to determine from symptoms and sensations which bacteria are missing and which cultures currently prevail in the gastrointestinal tract .

How long to take Linex

Patients often ask questions about how much Linex to drink after antibiotics or whether its use should be stopped immediately after the end of antibacterial therapy. Your doctor should tell you in detail how to take the drug correctly and how long it takes to restore the normal microflora of the digestive tract. As a rule, the treatment regimen with Linex depends on the duration of antibacterial therapy and the duration should exceed the course of antibacterial therapy by 2 times. That is, if antibiotics were taken for 7 days, then the course of treatment with Linex should be 14 days.

But we should not forget about the individual characteristics of each patient, which may require significant adjustments in dosage and timing of treatment. Therefore, any issues related to taking Linex and antibiotics must be resolved in the doctor’s office.

Treating bacterial infections with antibiotics has a significant drawback. During therapy, not only pathological but also beneficial microorganisms are eliminated. This effect is compensated by taking probiotics, including Linex. You need to know how to take Linex with antibiotics before starting treatment.

Mechanism of action of probiotics

The effect of probiotics on the body is based on two mechanisms: firstly, they help suppress the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, and secondly, they partially take over the functions of beneficial bacteria, the deficiency of which is noted when the intestinal flora is imbalanced.

How exactly do probiotics help the body? Thanks to their action, beneficial microorganisms can perform the following functions:

  • production of lactic acid, which inhibits the growth of fungi and other pathogenic flora;
  • produce antibodies to certain types of viruses, thereby strengthening immunity;
  • synthesize B vitamins and vitamin K, which are important for human physical and mental health;
  • increase the absorption of calcium, iron, carbohydrates and other nutrients and microelements;
  • act as an infection barrier on the intestinal mucosa, preventing infection from entering the bloodstream;
  • participate in the destruction of toxins, poisonous waste products of certain pathogenic microorganisms;
  • help prevent the development of gastrointestinal diseases;
  • enhance the effect in complex therapy of diseases of the genitourinary tract, digestive system, etc.

Why drink Linex after antibiotics: beneficial properties of dietary supplements

In the instructions for each antibiotic, in the “side properties” section, in addition to allergies, symptoms familiar to many are described:

Their appearance against the background of improved well-being after illness is perceived as a disaster. The person is weakened, the body does not have enough protection for an additional fight. Young children and older people are especially hard hit.

It has been established that the symptoms are caused by the ability of antibiotics, simultaneously with the destruction of pathogenic microorganisms, to suppress the normal intestinal microflora. According to scientists, up to 30% of patients suffer from digestive disorders after treatment. According to the degree of negative impact, drugs of the penicillin group destroy bifidobacteria and lactobacilli to the maximum; the effect is less pronounced for quinolones, lincomycins, macrolides, and cephalosporins.

The intestines are damaged regardless of what was treated - bronchitis, sore throat or otitis media. In response, opportunistic flora grows on the mucous membrane, which does not have sufficient beneficial properties, and does not exclude the possibility of additional infection. A violation of the ratio of different types of bacteria is called dysbiosis. This is a term, not a diagnosis. Whether it turns into pathology depends on the patient’s immunity and the ability to ensure the restoration of optimal balance.

Created synthetic and semi-synthetic antibacterial drugs have less negative effects. Some drugs are produced in different pharmaceutical companies and countries, improved in quality composition, and replace the previous base. The latest generation of drugs treats the body's microflora most carefully.

These include:

  • penicillins such as Ampicillin, its analogues Amoxicillin, Flemoxin Solutab;
  • the combination drug Amoxiclav (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid) is enhanced by the ability to inhibit the enzyme β-lactamase of bacteria;
  • Azithromycin and Sumamed are antibiotics from the macrolide group that block the synthesis of protein components in the microbial cell.

Doctors do not consider the appearance of signs of dyspepsia as a reason to discontinue antibiotic therapy. Treatment must be continued until the pathogens disappear completely. In difficult cases, it is allowed to use two antibiotics, replace them, or use the intravenous or intramuscular route of administration instead of oral administration. To prevent digestive disorders, it is necessary to add probiotics to the therapy complex. The most convenient and popular for its qualities is Linex.

In the pharmacy chain, the probiotic is presented in several forms:

  • capsules in blisters containing 300 mg of lyophilized but viable lactobacteria, bifidobacteria, enterococci, additional components include gelatin, lactose;
  • sachet powder includes lactobacilli and maltodextrin and requires prior dissolution in water;
  • children's drops in a bottle of 8 ml (6 drops correspond to the number of bacteria in one capsule);
  • the enhanced form of Linex Forte was created specifically for use by adult patients; the dose of the bacterial composition is significantly greater than in conventional capsules.

Once in the intestines, the contents of Linex are distributed throughout. By compensating for lost beneficial microorganisms, the drug helps:

  • restore the disturbed balance between beneficial and opportunistic bacteria, which is crucial in eliminating diarrhea;
  • establish the production of necessary vitamins (K, group B, PP, folic and ascorbic acid);
  • stimulate local and general immunity, activate the synthesis of immunoglobulin A and endogenous interferon, protect the mucous membrane from the introduction of pathogenic agents;
  • provide conditions for the flow of bile, the production and functions of digestive enzymes.

All together creates a protective barrier against damaging effects. Most doctors consider prescribing Linex after antibiotics to be a reasonable and necessary decision.

Dairy products with probiotics as a replacement for medications

Widely advertised products with “live” bacteria, bifido-kefirs, yoghurts with probiotic cultures, it would seem, could be a useful and nutritious alternative to taking capsule medications.

The studies examined the effects on the body of regular kefir and kefir with added live cultures of bacteria. The experiment with groups of volunteers was carried out using the double placebo method: neither the participants nor the scientists knew before summing up which group received the fortified product and which group received regular kefir, which acted as a placebo drug.

According to the results of the experiment, it turned out that the effect on the body of the placebo and the fortified product was exactly the same: standard fermented milk products are not fortified to a sufficient degree to bring tangible benefits.

The low concentration of live cultures, in addition to the insufficient amount of destruction during passage through the stomach in hydrochloric acid and acids in the duodenum, cannot be attributed to therapeutic doses of probiotics.

At the same time, experiments in which encapsulated drugs were used are considered successful studies proving the effectiveness of probiotics and their positive effect on the body.

The composition of probiotics produced in the form of food additives and preparations is regulated: the amount of beneficial microorganisms is added in accordance with the standards. The products include bacteria using a less stringent technology, in which the quantitative and qualitative indicators of probiotic inclusions are not controlled.

In accordance with scientific research, the European Center for Food Safety has classified kefirs and yoghurts enriched with live cultures as foods that do not have additional effects on the body. Such products cannot be used for therapy in place of encapsulated drugs.

Bifidumbacterin or Linex - which is better?

The composition includes live bacteria in the form of compressed granules, a bifidogenic ingredient that creates favorable conditions for their development, and lactose.

The drug differs from Linex in that it works not only with intestinal diseases. It is prescribed when there are such problems:

  • constipation;
  • acute intestinal infections;
  • taking antibiotics;
  • decreased immunity;
  • preparation for operations on the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver;
  • inflammation in the genitourinary system;
  • in complex therapy for children with pneumonia;
  • prematurity or weakness of the baby;
  • early transfer of the baby to artificial feeding;
  • colitis or enterocolitis;
  • colpitis;
  • bacterial vaginosis;
  • flat nipple in nursing women.

It is also successfully used in preparation for operations on the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver and before gynecological interventions.

Take the drug in the amount of 1 teaspoon per 1 g of Bifidumbacterin. The water should be warm. The dose is drunk half an hour before meals. It should be given to infants just before feeding. The course of treatment is a month, in severe cases – up to three months. The dose is always selected only by a doctor, taking into account the condition and age.

It is forbidden:

  • dissolve the powder in hot water;
  • make the mixture for future use and store it as a ready-made suspension.

Remember that we are talking about living bacteria that must be treated according to the rules.

  • Adults can take 5 doses 3 times a day. Infants 2.5 doses 2 times a day.
  • For a course of treatment you will need 2-3 packages of any form of the drug, but it will cost half as much as taking Linex.

Bifidumbacterin has the same contraindications as Linex, but if an overdose occurs, it can have the following consequences:

  • tachycardia;
  • sweating;
  • weakness and tremors in the limbs;
  • allergic manifestations;
  • panic attacks.

Are probiotics harmful?

Like all medications, probiotics have limitations, contraindications and side effects. Thus, among the common side effects are transient flatulence and increased gas formation, which ends after a course of drugs.

in some combinations, taking bacterial cultures can enhance or neutralize the effect of other drugs, and conversely, some groups of drugs significantly reduce the effectiveness of probiotics.

Which drug is better

Linex is an expensive drug that is prescribed for dysbacteriosis and for its prevention. Despite the fact that Bactistatin is not a medicine, it is preferred more often than the first. This is due not only to the low price, but also to the wide spectrum of action.

Bactistatin contains more substances that affect the fungal infection and enhance the effect of the antibiotic used. This drug is often refused only because it is a dietary supplement. However, its effect is not inferior to Linex, and in some situations even surpasses it.

Before using the product, consult a doctor. Each drug has contraindications and can cause unwanted side symptoms.

Correct selection of analogues

When choosing probiotics, it should be taken into account that some drugs in this group are contraindicated for certain categories of patients. People with lactase deficiency should choose probiotic medications with extreme caution. Lactose-based medications are contraindicated in such patients, but probiotics can be used:

  • Bifiform;
  • Bifidumbacterin;
  • Probifor.

You should also be careful with some foreign-made probiotics. These medications may contain bacteria that are not suitable for people living in Europe.

Such drugs will not harm the intestinal tract, but will be useless. A European person needs to buy probiotics based on bifidobacteria and enterococci.

Dietary supplements replacing Linex

When taking antibiotics, in order to prevent the development of dysbiosis, you can take not only probiotics or prebiotics, but also dietary supplements (BAA).

Biobakton

Biobakton is a remedy that has a general strengthening effect. It is used as an additional source of lactobacilli and is indicated for both adult patients and children from the age of three.

How do probiotics work in the gut?

The term “dysbacteriosis” was proposed in 1916 by the German physician A. Nissle to mean “fermentative and putrefactive dyspepsia.” Today, by this term, doctors understand a condition in which the balance of the natural microflora of the large intestine is disrupted. There is no such diagnosis in the International Classification of Diseases. This does not mean that doctors are treating a non-existent disease. Dysbacteriosis is defined as a syndrome - one of the manifestations of general pathology that requires medical attention.

Briefly about dysbiosis we can say this: with this condition in the intestines the number of beneficial bacteria decreases and the number of harmful ones increases - those that cause various functional disorders and diseases. Dysbacteriosis can be a consequence of pathology of the digestive tract (for example, due to inflammation or poisoning) or occur after external intervention - when taking antibiotics.

Dysbacteriosis is dangerous for humans. “Harmful” bacteria undermine his health:

  1. release toxins and make you feel worse;
  2. disrupt the production of digestive enzymes and interfere with normal bowel function;
  3. affect intestinal motility, causing diarrhea or constipation;
  4. disrupt the digestion of incoming food - leads to a deficiency of vitamins and microelements;
  5. interfere with the full functioning of the immune system and cause frequent infectious diseases.

The intestinal microflora is able to recover on its own after eliminating the provoking factor - for example, after stopping antibiotics. But this is a long process, accompanied by unpleasant symptoms. You can help your intestines by giving it beneficial bacteria. For this purpose, probiotics are prescribed - preparations containing live microorganisms.

The effect of probiotics is explained by the bacteria they contain. Let's take a closer look at each drug.

Bifidumbacterin

bifidumbacterin

Bifidumbacterin is a monocomponent agent. It contains only bifidobacteria. According to many scientists, it is these microorganisms that are needed for the proper functioning of the digestive tract.

Bifidobacteria are the basis of the microflora of the large intestine. Here's what they can do:

  1. improve the absorption of proteins, carbohydrates and fats;
  2. influence hydrolysis processes in tissues;
  3. provide vitamins B and K from food;
  4. help fight pathogenic flora - staphylococci, proteus, shigella, yeast-like fungi, etc.;
  5. restore the balance of intestinal microflora;
  6. normalize the production of enzymes in the intestines;
  7. provide protection to the mucous membrane of the digestive tract;
  8. increase the body's overall resistance to infections.

It is important to understand: probiotics cannot destroy pathogenic flora alone. They do not kill, but only suppress the growth of dangerous bacteria, restore and maintain microbial balance. Therefore, to treat dysbiosis, antibiotics are first prescribed, and then the intestines are populated with probiotics.

Linex

Linex

The drug contains three types of beneficial microorganisms. We have already talked about bifidobacteria above. Let us dwell in more detail on other representatives of normal microflora:

  1. Lactobacilli compete for space in the intestines with pathogenic microorganisms. They stimulate the immune system and improve nutrient absorption.
  2. Enterococci shift the intestinal pH to the acidic side, thereby inhibiting the growth of pathogenic flora and stimulating the production of digestive enzymes.

No pharmacokinetic data are provided for both drugs. It is unknown how beneficial bacteria behave in the intestines and whether they die under the influence of aggressive gastric juice. The manufacturers of Linex and Bifidumbacterin do not comment on this point: there is no data on this issue in the instructions for the drugs.
